Next WHU Event: Sat Feb 18

Posted: by Frostheim

Okay, it’s well past time to get moving on the WHU events! We will have the next WHU event on Saturday the 18th of February, at 6pm Icecrown server time. Not that this may well be different from your time, or the time in the Dungeon Finder! This event will be open to everyone, though as always it is highly recommended that you try to make it to level 20 to get a mount — it will help you keep up much better.

For those of you unfamiliar with the WHU guild events: here is the info on the WHU In-Game Event Guild, and here is some advice on WHU Event 101 so you’ll know what to expect at the event. For the last WHU event hundreds of level 65 dwarven hunters fought the Whale Shark, which looked something like this:

The Level Cap Before and After

The current level cap of the WHU guild is level 75. After this event we will be removing the level cap entirely and letting those who want to level up to 85. I also plan to work with Arthemystia to form the 25-man all hunter raid team to start raiding current content. Blizzard themselves has been promoting things like the all druid or all DK raid teams — I want to get on this before the expansion is over.

I know some people wanted to stop at level 80 and raid Wrath content… but to me that’s a little silly, like stopping at level 60 to raid vanilla content. By nature of the buffs of expansions you’re going to be way more powerful at any given level than people really were at that level, so the content isn’t going to be on the same challenge level. What interests me is trying to take on content that is literally on the same challenge level as full teams manage with support classes. But more on the hunter raiding team another day.

Eventually we will be making a new baby hunter WHU guild that will have a low level cap and will always stay low, but we’re probably not making that right away. I want to have at least one more WHU in-game event after we hit the level cap, after all. I want to be able to show what an army of hundreds of level 85 hunters can do. Then after that we can get the baby guild going and go back to smaller events.

sweet, it’s been long over due. *marks calendar*. Looks like I have some leveling to do as well.

    • Kramisha says:

can some one invite me to do the whale shark at 6pm plz as i have been asking and there has been no answer

  2. Ominous says:

    What a perfect little video!
I always knew that, way back in vanilla – when my main was born, “Dwarf” and “Hunter” seemed like the ideal combination.
That assault / victory – albeit vicarious – makes me want to quaff some Thunderbrew, right now!

  3. Tednugent - Rivendare says:

My Realm/Faction transfer to come in the near future.

    Thanks Frost!

  4. Kirk says:

Hey now, some of us DID stop a 60 and 70 to do raids at level. :p

  5. Flint says:

Can’t make it. My son is wrestling in the Missouri State Wrestling Championships.

Count me in on the all Hunter raid team, but I will be bringing Caitus as he is already on Icecrown in DHS and level 85.

  6. Kirk says:

Yeah, I got an 85 dwarven hunter in DHS that’s already to go too. ;)

    • Helwyr says:

happy day – will look forward to seeing you all there – and i will probably stop a little while at 80 – a little silly but a lot of fun :) – my wow career has not included a lot of raiding so pausing gives me a chance to immerse myself longer and explore more in content that to me is still quite fresh :)

  7. Bramman says:

Woohoo! It’s a 3 day weekend, so I may be out of town for the event, but I’m looking forward to the cap raise!

  8. oldpain says:

this is great news about the new level going up to 85…i can finally transfer and faction change my horde toon i made just for the guild achieve for a tauren hunter and have somewhere to play it. Frost you are a hunter god. thank you

  9. Roachkilla says:

STOKED! I had a blast at the last 2 events and cannot wait to cap my “baby” hunter! Been looking forward to this since the last event. I even got my brother into the guild. It’s just too bad he won’t be able to attend because I’m going to!

  10. Omogon says:

    Looking forward to it :)

  11. Kirk says:

Thanks for making it on a weekend so those of us on the West Coast can more easily attend. ;)

  12. the Cheerleader says:

The WHUvians will be ready Frost:D We cant wait!!

  13. quori says:

I’ll be there with bells and whistles on

  14. Kirk says:

I suggest fighting one of the rare spawns in the Cataclysm zones for the guild event. However the problem would be having one of these available at the event time and date. So there would have to be a back-up plan.

The hardest would likely be Julak-Doom, in Twilight Highlands

  15. Jodi Lane says:

Hey guys! I saw a couple of your videos. I really would like to make a hunter on the Icecrown server and join your guild. Right now I have a really awesome hunter on Borean Tundra. It’s my favorite thing ever. So, I’m thinking just to be able to join your craziness, I want to make another for these events. It’d be a blast! Let me know if there’s someone I can contact in game for an invite once I’m there! ;oD

  16. Jodi Lane says:

Wait, I read the guild info! Got it! Thank you! ;o)

  17. Shaevinna says:

I want to stop at level 80 for a bit to work on Herald of the Titans, since achieves are going to be account-wide in 5.0. Didn’t get a chance to finish this on my main when Cata was released, so hopefully can find a group on Icecrown willing to work on it.

  18. irondog says:

can we do toon transfers to WHU ‘s icecrown guild?

    • the Cheerleader says:

As long as it is under lvl 75 before the start of the event:D

      and it is a dwarf:D

I am definitely glad I decided on a whim to check the WHU website. Having played WoW since a month after it came out, I have finally decided to close my account. I know the event is not about me, but I couldn’t hope for a better send-off then a WHU event to celebrate all the great times I have had with this wonderful game. WHU, thanks for being the awesome guild you are… if it wasn’t for you guys, I would have quit the game a long time ago.
