Today over at WoW.com, a big discussion of where BM is at: the many cool new things about the spec, and the current disappointing things:
We’ve now covered what the MM Cataclysm rotation and the SV Cataclysm rotation are looking like in the beta, so it’s time for BM. Ghostcrawler, lead systems designer, recently identified SV as the least-polished spec in the beta currently. While that may be true, it is also true that BM is the least functional spec at the moment.
While BM has come a long way in the beta, it still has not-yet-implemented talents and not-yet-functional talents. But the main problem with BM is that the pet design pass hasn’t been done yet. BM relies on its pets far more than any other spec, and until we know how the pet design will play out, we are left with big questions in our rotation.
Join me after the cut as we take a look at exactly where BM is right now, why our pets are more important than ever, why big red pet is better than ever, and why we can’t say for certain just what the final BM rotation will look like… Read More.
Well i do remeber , in a blue post that they mentioned something about a BM’s pet getting a third ” exotic attack”. If it is not a set it on auto attack ability ,Mabye this attack will add a litle complexity to the rotation.
I also think if they made “focused fire” a little diferent it would help the rotation a ton.
What if you took away the cooldown, made it a 5 sec channel that imediately brought you pet to your side during the channel. You would get 3% haste for each second of channel and it would last 30 secs.
also glyphs could chage rotations alot .
Heres hoping they get it right this time , not sure i could handle BM being a “failed spec “again.
Thanks for you insight into this frost.
I know this is an old post but i wanted to share what i have learned with the BM hunter community. The Exotic attack are not auto attacks which is fun, but I dont find any of them any better then standard attacking Cat, except in AoE, the Cimera Froststorm is fun, and does interesting damage, though you have to single target dps yourself to keep you dps up, Multi-shot, we might as well not even have it right now in my opinion. Most interesting of all is I did outstanding AoE damage with a Worm haha, there Burrow Attack is awewome and the affect is really cool to as it cause enemies to dissapear underground, jsut make sure you spec it for every damage enhancing talent versus tanking.
Question I have Frost and maybe you have answered it or one of the other bloggers I cant remember seeing it though is are we going to want to gem for Agility or Crit in Cata? I know arp gems are being converted to crit gems so which will be better as I may want to change them now. I am BM main spec but raid as MM currently.
It’s *way* too early to start asking that question. We won’t know until we can get to level 85, and until Blizzard finishes tweaking damage of abilities (something they haven’t even started yet).
@ Bradden – Not to mention that there will be new better gems and new better gear to put them in.
@ Frost – I REALLY don’t want pointlessly complicated talents. Focus FIre was already over the line in my opinion, basically being a button we need to hit every 30 seconds to get a 15 second buff, which changes our rotation (at least to the extent of time between shots, if not more). It doesn’t even do any direct damage. It screams “We couldn’t think of anything good which would make things more interesting, so we just made them more frustratingly complex.” Complicated does not equal Interesting in my book.
By the way, where exactly is the pet buff stack indicator?
I also don’t want pointlessly complicated talents. I want ones that require thought and decision-making, but have a point. Focus Fire is about as easy as a buff can be. When it’s available, push the button. No thought involved.
I want to see some thought in BM. I want to see some skill. I want my decisions to matter, and if I make good ones, I want to do better. When we just barely wipe to an enrage timer, I want to think “if I really focus and nail this, I can do a bit better this time!”
i definately agree with frost. i dont ever want to see 2 button rotations in wow again. it invites too many unskilled hunters into thinking they are competent when they are topping meters but barely understand their class. complexity helps distinguish skilled from unskilled, and rewards those better players with higher places on the meters and more kudos.
oh i just had a great idea frost. what if we could give BM a reason to rotate back and forth between cobra and steady shot? since marks atm is the only tree that will really want to use it, and sv will exclusively use cobra, it would add a slight more thought if you had to consider which one to use. idk, im sure you could come up with some sort of buff or proc that would be interesting for bm to get from it. just a thought
From what i read (blue post, ghostcrawler) bm will not have cobra shot(going to surv) so will be back to old rotation.
