Balthazar

As I’ve mentioned a couple times before, I’m working on a new hunter song. Mike Hallenbeck, the guy who did the vocals for I’m a Hunter will be doing both the music and vocals this time. Our plan is to get it put together for the Blizzcon movie contest — hopefully we can get it shown at Blizzcon.

There are two things you should know about Mike, and both of them involve his wife, Jen, also a friend of mine.

The first is that Jen often has strange and hilarious dreams. She had a dream that Mike had become the Dungeons & Dragons World Champion, and he did so under his wizard name, Balthazar. Mike recently sent me the first concept of the music for the song, and added that he thinks he needs to do our collaborative wow-work under s wow-like pseudonym. Inspired by Jen’s dream, he wants to use the name Balthazar (Mike does not play wow. At all, not even remotely).

The second thing is that Mike is an obsessive rickroller. He gets in epic rickrolling competitions with his friends.

So this summer at his wedding, Jen bested him at his own game when she conspired with the reverend marrying them to rickroll him during the wedding, by working it into his vows. So there Mike was, up in front of everyone, getting married, saying his vows…

Reverend: I, Mike Hallenbeck, do take etc. etc.

Mike: I, Mike Hallenbeck, do take etc. etc.

Reverend: I’m never going to give you up, never going to let you down…

Mike: I’m… wha… uh… never going to give you up, never going to let you down…

Perhaps you’d consider that forcing him to rickroll himself? Dunno.

Anyhow, the new hunter song is underway, though I also have to wrap up another hunter music video thing I’m way behind on now. In a perfect world I’ll wrap up the other one while Balthazar is doing the music for the Blizzcon one, then I can promptly switch videos and get everything done in time for the Blizzcon movie contest deadline (end of september).
