Here is a peek at how the hunter UI for the new talent system works in the currently Cataclysm beta build. Some nice tweaks to the UI I think.

    Thanks for the video preview! I like to see that blizz is simplifying things but also allowing us to do some customization. I’m still wondering why each tree got the same push back reduction when some of the other classes have more differentiation in the bonuses…

  2. Valacia says:

    @Thornagol
    Most likely because the only thing we really have (except MM with aimed) that has a cast time is used for focus regen, so pushback would probably really bone us…

    @Frost
    I’m sure you already knew, but you can currently do the same thing with your talents on live. If you have the option enabled under, IIRC Interface> Features you will have the learn and reset buttons

    @Off Topic
    I just realized something when you were talking about the 3% hit we get for free… this means more free itemization available for damage producing stats on our gear!!! yippie!

  3. raful says:

    Maybe I misunderstood you, but otherwise:
    You aren’t screwed just because you pressed the wrong talent in wrath either: press esc -> interface -> features -> preview talent changes.

  4. If you go to a trainer and unlearn your talents can you choose a different specialization? That would seem to make sense so you can play around with different options without having to buy dual spec, but I figured I’d ask.

  5. Frostheim says:

    Yes, if you untrain, you start from scratch, like always. You can then choose whatever specialization you’d like.

  6. Frostheim says:

    @Valacia — yup, it’s currently an option in live that defaults to being turned off (thus the vast majority of people will never see it). In cataclysm it’s now the default.

  7. Okra says:

    what was the size of the new bag replacing the ammo holder?

  8. Flileaf says:

    Interesting changes to the talent tree for sure. Looks like there will be some heated discussions over best pvp builds. It may be just from first impressions, but it looks like they want to bring pvp and dps builds closer together. Or mabye we’ll be able to stun raid bosses in cataclysm lol.

    Are you able to level past 80 in the beta? I assume the same character restrictions as the ptr’s are in place.
    Had blizz placed any 88 lvl boss dumbies in the major cities yet?

  9. Paurixote says:

    31 points to take us from 10 to 85 would mean a point to spend about every 2 and a half levels. Any idea how this will be spread out? Every 3 levels for a while then every 2 towards the end? Alternating? Scattered? This is more an issue for characters leveling from scratch or near scratch, but I did always enjoy being able to plan ahead a talent tree to know something like “I can tame exotics at level 51!”

  10. Paurixote says:

    Whoops! 41 points would give us a little more than a talent every 2 levels. Question remains.

  11. Padders says:

    1 every 2 levels from 10 to 80 = 36

    1 every level from 81 – 85 = 5

    41?

  12. Anaia says:

    Time to pull out one of my many hunter alts again. I think I have five from levels 38 to 73. Or wait for Cata and be a human… decisions.

  13. Frostheim says:

    Yes, you get your first talent point at level 10, and then another one every two levels. Thus you’ll have 41 talent points at level 85.

  14. Samuel says:

    Hey, I just got in the beta – could you suggest a good leveling spec for it? I was thinking 3/7/31, http://www.wowtal.com/#k=D-YzAYNSg.9mn.hunter, but I’m not sure!

  15. Tazzad says:

    I just took a look at the new talents on wowhead…. It seems like atleast Marksman and Survival (didnt look on BM) that they both are very pvp oriented…. I hope this is something that will change l8er in the testing phase :)
