Frost and I had a talk recently. There are certain hunter-related achievements that we could conceivably pull off and it was decided that this must be done. So, a server, race, and faction change later, and I was an honorary member of Frost’s guild (Wyrmfoe) for about a week and a half. As for the specific achievement we collaborated on, more on that in a future article. This is simply about my week with the folks you know and love from Frost’s stories and rants.
The first order of business was to twink out my lvl 30 baby hunter with heirloom gear, so I can keep up with the crazy all-hunter runs the guild seems to love to do. But the switch also allowed me to stalk the 20-30 leveling zones finding WHU guild members. The incredulous tells were delightful.
I also got to raid Horde cities for the Midsummer seasonal achievements with Hrist, Frost, and fellow hunter Ali (a regular on MNK and also a part of the lvl 19 Gnomeregan run). Presumably, as a Horde, I knew my way around the Horde territories and cities, and could act as a guide. In reality I learned that I have no idea where stuff is (there’s a back elevator in TB?! Who knew?). A humbling experience, as we let Ali and online walkthroughs guide us instead.
The height of my non-top-secret activities was 25M ICC raid night, because it was going to give me the chance to fulfill a dream: attempt to out-dps Frostheim. I even had an elaborate quote macro to spam into raid chat about the student becoming the master, straight from Obi-Wan’s duel with Vader. It would’ve been epic.
And then Frost wasn’t there. The bastard picked that weekend to go camping with Arust. So, ok, what’s a reasonable new goal? Well, as soon as Hrist realized Frost wasn’t there to be dps captain and assistant raid leader, he gave me the role. I’ve led raids, but it’s a brand new feeling when you pop into vent saying, “Hi guys, nice to meet you. Thanks for having me. Now do as I say.” Fortunately, Wyrmfoe was completely cool about it. And I got to test my dps against stalwarts like Badass Mage (who took an early lead with the #1 spot on Marrowgar) and AFK Rogue (who was, ya know, AFK a bit too much to challenge for the overall dps lead, but was impressive in posting a raid-best 12.3K on Festergut)
But in the end, as Bella’s WHUBBQ cake so rightly stated, hunters like it on top:
That included the first four, plus Festergut, Rotface, and Blood Coucil (with one wipe on Fester). And of course my raid duties came first, including killing bone spikes, kiting Blood Beasts, coordinating the dps, and sending my pet to kinetic orbs. Makes me kinda glad Frost wasn’t around. Because, of course, I’ve seen Frost’s meters so I already sort of know how I stack up. And posting a meter where I’m second wouldn’t have looked as cool.
Oh, and I promised Hrist I would post this. On the lone week Frost doesn’t show, these were the Saurfang drops:
And one of the Marks almost assuredly would’ve been Frost’s. Everyone /tar Frost and laugh.

thats lil funny all that drop and frost wasnt there to get any of it lol
That’s what the loot was the week I got my DBW too, frustrating since we had a 1 MS roll/wing policy since we were pugging a few to fill gaps, and I needed but one mark to get full 10.5
Arth it was a pleasure to raid with you! Frankly that night of ‘Foe was probably the most fun I’ve had since the beginning – would have been more fun with Frost true BUT it was a blast. Think of the Hunter Geekery!
I’m sure you would have made an awesome guide through the Horde cities. I just tend to be kinda GPS when it comes to getting around. I couldn’t tell you where any shops were, or trainers… just how to get from where you are to the fire and how to run like hell.
Oh… the Elevator behind TB…don’t tell the other Horde its there so they don’t camp us. We will miss you when you go T_T

Hehe (evil grin) thanks for the macro. I’ve recently transfered to Icecrown to join up with my new guild (Jinx) and now I have a reason to sit by the fires!
Welcome! Icecrown is a great server! Sorry you cant stay longer Arthe!
Whats that sound? I think thats frost jumping down that cliff we saw in that picture…
awesome post! sounds like you had a good week
seeing the guild taking over duskwood and other lvling zones must have been so cool!
@Quadilious he faction changes for a WEEK and your ready to jump him ;D
haha the week i won my dbw the dk who was meant to get it according to dkp didn’t show up
I agree that it was a blast Arth:D You can be our wingman anytime:D
Thanks for transfering over:D and we will be sad to see you go:(
Why can’t the raids I’m in have this much luck, I have only seen DBW drop once and i would of won it but the RL was an elitest, NEVER seen any ranged weapon drop, or any replacements for my lower ilevel gear
I like to see that DPS meter…I know I am not one of the best hunters in the world. After looking at your dps I know I can keep up with some really good hunters.
I PUG 25 mans so the group normally falls apart after 1 shotting the first wing and sometime Fester(It’s crazy it’s like people wait for the tokens and leave). I don’t know how much of a increase/decrease in dps there is from where my PUGs stop and you getting through the blood princes though.
Yeah, the point wasn’t to post an epic dps meter. I performed well, but there’s hunters who can do much more than I. I manage around 10K on most of the fights though (Fester, Rotface, Lady D, Marrowgar, etc.) which isn’t insanely high but can hang with any 25M. The Council nukes me pretty hard though. I was over 10K before the fight, though I forget by how much. I’m not terribly good at watching for orbs, staying in position, and dps’ing well.
Grats on the loot! Keep up the nice blogging!
