Here is last week’s podcast, “Zen and the Art of Pet Healing” in which we interview master priestess Dawn Moore, who acknowledges that it’s entirely possible that Frostheim would be an awesome healer! We talk about pet healing, answer reader emails and chatroom questions (which were all directed at Dawn…. maybe we should change to a priest podcast?).

So we tried a new way of recording that makes it vastly easier to get the episodes live; however, the quality plummets. Is it too horrible to listen to?

As always, here is the iTunes store link, the Hunting Party Podcast feed, and the direct XML feed. If you email us comments or questions, we’ll read them on the next show. Send an email to [email protected] Also, we love iTunes reviews. So please drop by iTunes and mention what you thought of the show.

My alt is a near-80 disc. priest, and yes, popping Shield is by far the most rewarding priest spell. I can’t play a Holy priest because of it.

Fun, offbeat podcast. I can’t make most Saturdays, which is a shame, but I always enjoy listening.

  2. Arthemystia says:

    Tier 10, 2 penis bonus.

…that’s right kids. This valuable hunter info brought to you by the WHU.

I can’t WAIT to see what set bonuses we get in Cataclysm.

    ;-)

  3. Garumoo says:

I always look after my healer – masters call, intimidation, growl, charge … lots of tools to save their clothy butts.

I don’t understand though why every time I proactively drop a freeze trap on their feet at the beginning of the fight they feel compelled to move off it.

  4. Beirdra/Shadda says:

9 times out of ten, my attempts at saving healers in pugs go something like this:
    1. Shadda notices the healer next to her getting beat on. Shadda casts a frost trap. Other dps attempts to kill the mob that is beating on the healer. Dps breaks trap. Shadda bangs face on keyboard.
    2. Shadda casts destracting shot. Mob attacks Shadda. Shadda pops deterence and brings mob to the tank. Shadda desperately jumps in circles around the tank, attempting to kite the mob. Tank ignores Shadda. Mob continues to cheerfully munch on Shadda’s face.
4.a. The rest of the dps manages to down the rest of the mobs. Tank realizes he is still in combat and finally taunts the escapee.
    b. Shadda dies. Mob re-aggroes to the healer.
    c. Shadda gets fed up and feigns death. Mob re-aggroes to the healer.
    d. Other dps decides to save Shadda. Mob pingpongs between dps, wreaking all kinds of fiery destruction while the tank dpses the remaining mobs and wonders why the fight is taking so long.

    It’s an art, really :)

  5. Ibet tortheldrin says:

    So how about this…
At lvl 80we should all have wolves
if u don’t want ur pet to die just spend 2 talentpoints in ur pet tree on lick your wounds and pheonix

  6. dd says:

can i get a link to that nice hunter song at the start plox

  7. Eest says:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0l4T9kRlBE – The great song ^^
But personally I tend to ignore the pets unless tank isn’t taking very much damage, or that I’ve recently shielded him, so I have a safe moment…
Thought I usually let the locks minions die, thats what you get for using my mana bar as your own…
    (Im disc priest :P )

  8. dd says:

most problems i notice with pets dying is when they get a debuff that mend pet can’t remove. i don’t care if the healer is ignoring my pet, if it’s hurt i can use mend pet to top him off. 1 point in bloodthirsty keeps him happy and healthy.

  9. Hippocrap says:

Was doing old kingdom last night and had a druid healer, pet gets hit by a poision and me being SV I dont have imp mend pet so I ask the healer to get rid of it and he says “No its just a pet” This was whilst we were waiting for the tank to come back from a bio so its not like it would have been a wipe situation if he had done it. In the end my pet had about 20% health left…

  10. MetalBeast says:

I think the sound quality is just fine.

  11. Maihemm says:

    The sound was good enough…..

  12. Fradin says:

Yeah could not really tell the sound quality change, was a good podcast as per always the Hunting Party Podcast rocks and tends to having something interesting every time. Another note Frost as a healer never thought you would heal especially knowing all the havoc we hunters can create but I found it funny swapping positions like that at a drop of a hate would of been really entertaining to watch too i Bet !!!! .

  13. Cathy says:

In pvp my hunter hubby partner is very good about calling the pet back quickly as soon as he is LOS and taking any damage.

In PVE if you know the fights you know where the pets will need additional heals and as druid healer hotting up on the pets with at least a wild growth is not an issue.

Now if the pet is ugly or just plain disobedient, I may not throw heals their way. Good cute pets will get my heals:)

  14. Jonathan says:

lol 2 things help me so much for the pet heals and you having to rez your pet….
    Lick your wounds and
    Heart of the phoenix

  15. Aura says:

“A paladin got 17k and posted it on the forum” I get 30k on valithria on my paladin pretty much every try and if i’m not above 20k I screwed up! – No lies.

  16. ohboy says:

Its may 3 already…give me something new to read pls.

  17. Frostheim says:

Um…. the WHU is updated mon-friday. Sometimes, like this Friday, it’s updated multiple times in one day. I can’t offer much more than that.

  18. ohboy says:

Hahaha…oh man I am apologizing from the bottom of my heart….I was at work and my only access to internet is through my phone…and I am looking for May posts on April posts then I commented how come its already may 3 and ddnt see any new post…hmm how dumb huh? :\ again I’m sincerely sorry :D

  19. Oyless says:

I have an 80 Shaman who is nearly 900 GS less than my Hunter Main. Personally I know how much help a Pet can give so when I’m healing I always have them topped off. Of course it annoys me when a Lock keeps their Imp on Phased and I’m not able to heal the little bastard. People always ask me “Why are you healing the pets, they aren’t important!” I usually just “/slap” them without a reply. The pets shouldn’t be taking major damage anyway, so when they do Something Seriously went wrong somewhere.

  20. The Darkling Thrush says:

My pet has saved more than one healer (pet attack/growl back on), and routinely accounts for 1,000+ dps. I can usually keep him healed just fine and understand if the healer is overwhelmed. After all, some healers are geared better than others, just like the rest of us, and some parties drain healers more than others (by not knowing the fights, etc.). All that said, I would be offended if a healer dismissed my pet as unimportant. My pet might just decide the same about said healer!
