Okay, this is the Brigwyn HPP — the one where our live broadcast failed entirely. For those of you keeping count, there are still two more back episodes that haven’t been put up for download yet, and Euripides claimes he’ll have them online soon. I just work here, don’t look at me.

As always, here is the iTunes store link, the Hunting Party Podcast feed, and the direct XML feed. If you email us comments or questions, we’ll read them on the next show. Send an email to [email protected] Also, we love iTunes reviews. So please drop by iTunes and mention what you thought of the show.

    Very good podcast! Hearing all the stories was epic

  2. Odrob says:

    Now that ‘For the Horde’ used a BM hunter for the world #2 LK25 hm kill, I don’t think that we need any further debates on the viability of BM hunters in raids.

  3. Loz says:

    Excellent podcast again guys.

    @Odrob. Just because 1 hunter used BM in the 2nd LK25 HM kill, doesn’t mean it’s going to work for everyone. He’s using BiS gear and has probably been assigned a very specific role for one fight. BM is raid viable, but if you want to give the most to your raid, then MM is the way to go for the vast majority of raiding hunters, although SV is comparable to MM until a certain level of gear.

  4. Bozanimal says:

    An interesting show; almost a “behind the scenes.”

    I gave Brig a lot of grief over his hunter leveling guides. I can only hope my comments at the time were well-reasoned. That being said, I completely agree with a lot of his writing comments. Short, concise, and accurate while maintaining your voice; tough but really solid advice.

    More on the topic of the game, wouldn’t the AoE in Sindragosa cause the raid to daze with Aspect of the Pack on?

  5. bill says:

    Really boring and alot of it was a friendly 1upping contest. Its pathetic that Brigwyn really sucks and feels like hes being replaced by more talented hunter bloggers but no credit to you frost your really not that good either.

    the most interesting thing that needs to come of cataclysm is a podcast/blogger that experiments in becoming a player in a top 200 guild and ends up ranking top 50 on world of logs.

    all you ever see is boss strats from encounters that real players clear on hardmode and it gets really old soggy. anyone good at math can theorycraft and provide nifty tips that can get you a little bit more dps. The ability to provide ridiculous dps numbers, hardmode achievements, and a guild that ranks high on wow progress would be more legit then a theorycrafting math geek.

  6. Frostheim says:

    @Bozanimal: Nope — the constant raid damage does not trigger the daze effect of pack. It’s awesome — a 30% speed boost to the entire raid every time they need to get out. Makes hunters beloved.

    @Bill: What you’re talking about is known as an Ad Hominim argument. What matters (in my opinion) is that the guides are correct for the audience that reads them.

  7. Brigwyn says:

    @Frost
    Just wanted to say thanks again! It really was a great that we got to sit and chat a bit. Maybe we’ll do it again sometime on a different show about a different topic. ;)

    @Bozanima
    No worries on the hard times. If I lived my life based on trolls I’d have gone nuts long ago.

    Besides, I’m sure whatever was said was intended to be constructive. Whether the tone came across or not.

    /handshake

    @Bill

    Seriously!?!? You only heard 1upping and me whining? WHINING?!?!

    I’m not whining. I was honest. It’s time to hand off to the next generation of hunter bloggers.

    The game has changed enough, the audience has changed, and I have other interests. I’m not sure how you call that whining.

    Also, I’ve openly stated on the podcast and elsewhere that I’m not proud of my work at WoW.com. Not only that. I’ve also admitted to Frost being a better writer and better choice for WoW.com.

    It really sounds more like you’re wanting to create more Brig vs. Frost drama when it truly doesn’t exist. Sorry, nice try.

    Oh! BTW Bill – I’ve heard that teabagging a blender gives more satisfaction than trolling blogs. You might want to try it sometime.

    Thanks again Frost.

  8. bill says:

    @ brigwyn

    im not gonna troll frosts blog because i enjoy a lot of the information on this website so im just gonna keep this brief.

    1.) i never said whining and dont really care or want to create brig vs. frost drama gtfo verurself

    2.) the podcast was really boring when you both of you constantly talk about yourselves and yes constantly 1up each other.

    3.) my point was simply when is there going to be a hunter blogger that is a real authentic top player and not just a theorycrafter with a lot of pubbie hunter fans. i look at a lot of the screenshots you post frost and ofcourse your on the top but the rest of the guilds dps is sadly pathetic. no one in my guild does less than 10k dps and were struggling through hardmodes. when is there going to be a blogger that doesnt just top their guilds dps meters but tops a worldoflogs class meter, someone who has hardmode achievements and has experience in a hardcore guild.

  9. Frostheim says:

    @bill

    You’re still making an ad hominem argument, rather than a substantive one. You’re arguing about traits of the author of the blogs, rather than with the information they present. If the information is incorrect for the audience, that’s something that can be discussed.

    However, we’ve interviewed some of the world’s top hunters on the podcast, including hunters from Ensidia and Paragon, as well as Kripparrian (with more #1 dps parses than any other hunter) and across the board they all agree with everything we say about top dps and MM hunters. However, we then go a bit further and discuss how to get the best dps out of the other specs, and how to get the best dps out of lower gear levels — the kind of gear that most hunters have, rather than the gear that less than 1% of hunters have (and the strategies differ).

    In general you’re better off arguing with the information, with what is being said, than trying to dismiss what is being said because of a trait the author possesses.

  10. Brigwyn says:

    @Bill
    Interesting.. Guess reading “…Its pathetic that Brigwyn really sucks and feels like hes being replaced by more talented hunter bloggers..” shouldn’t be interpreted as whining.. /shrug whatever… lol

    As for the podcast being about Frost and I talking about ourselves? That you’ll have to talk to Frost, Rip and Darkbrew. But as the guest? I’m extremely grateful just to have the opportunity to sit and talk to a fellow hunter blogger/podcaster. We don’t get to do that as often as we’d like and it’s always good to take time talk about our experiences.

    As Frost stated they’ve had numerous of the noted “World’s Best” so I’m not sure maybe you’re getting my podcast (The Hunting Lodge Podcast) and (The Huntig Party Podcast) confused?? THLPodcast isn’t a Hunter focused podcast so maybe that’s why you’re disappointed? Sorry, still can’t help. but thanks for playing.

    And your final point? Here’s my challenge to you.

    If you’re such the expert on being a hunter blogger why not go and create one yourself? It’s free! Or if you need more examples, I’m pretty sure Ensidia, Paragon, some of the others have their sites opened up for you to read.

    Anyways, i still stand my advice. I think it’s time for your teabag to meet your blender and you’ll probably feel a whole lot better. :)

  11. Zeea says:

    @ Bill

    Frost has done more for the “average” hunter then any other blogger/site that I have ever seen (and I read a lot of them). When I meet hunters in WoW playing below their potential, I always have just one thing to say to them “go to http://www.warcrafthuntersunion.com and read everything there!”

    You suggest that a site would be better if a “world class hunter” were to write it. Well, most hunters in the world aren’t in top 200 guilds, let alone top 50, and most hunters are only just starting on ICC hard modes (10 man). If they wanted ICC HC boss strategies, then they have tankspot for that, what most hunters want is to know that what they are doing is right. 99.9% of players will never make it to a top 200 guild, so why write a blog from their perspective? Would you read a blog written by someone who still only raids in Vanilla WoW?

    The podcast was a great insight to the sheer effort it takes to write a blog. All I heard in Brig’s voice was the sadness and frustration (and warning’s to Frost) that people like you have nothing constructive to say and just belittle people who get off their ass and make an effort to help people in the wider gaming community. Trying to answer 500 emails a day, posting daily on the sites (WHU or WoW.com), playing WoW, raiding, testing, arranging massive hunter events, writing guides for hunters and doing all this to help other people he has never and probably will never meet…

    My mother always told me, “if you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all.” Maybe you should have listened to your mother more…

    Good luck in your new endeavours Brig, and Frost, keep up the awesome work! ;)

    As a long time fan of the show, I’m kinda bummed that since you’ve started doing the live shows, the archived shows aren’t getting much love. It’s not often that I’m on when you are live and there are several noticeable gaps after ep. 20.
