The WHU event guild is now over 150 200 250 300 400 500 members, and I started a brand new dwarven hunter to hang out and level with the crew.
It’s been a long, long time since I’ve leveled a hunter… like 5 years. I normally hate leveling, so I went ahead and purchased a full set of heirloom gear for my new hunter to make the process a bit faster.
After a lot of painfully slow kiting (kiting is a much more painful process when auto-shot is your only shot) I finally reached the current WHU level cap – level 10. I did my pet quests, grabbed a pet, and a whole new world opened up. No more kiting mobs for an eternity — instead I was immediately able to send my pet in, gather up 3 or 4 mobs, and… well, auto shot them down one at a time.
But still, it was a huge quality of life improvement. Let me tell you know, a hunter leveling without a pet is a sad thing indeed.
So far the WHU guild community has been fantastic. Lots of chatter, new people joining up constantly, lots of pestering me to find out what the next event is going to be. We’ve got the guild bank stocked with the necessities of life: guns, scopes, and ammo. We also have people picking up various professions to pitch in with bags, armor kits, etc. It’s good times.
Finally having a pet again at level 10 was so fantastic, I kinda wish I could keep going. Well… actually I snuck up to level 11. The pet I wanted was level 11… and I’m not bringing my little hunter to the event anyway — I’ll be there as Frostheim.
At any rate, I’m excited for the big event (time to be announced) but I’m now also excited for afterward when we’ll bump up the WHU level cap. We’ve already got people strategizing about exactly how you’d form up an all-hunter deadmines run.
So if you haven’t joined up already, hop over to Icecrown and create a dwarven hunter. Join the WHU chat channel (/join WHU) to ask for an invite — there’s almost always a bunch of people online to invite you and to level with.
Imagine the kind of killing team over 200 level 10 hunters (and their pets) would be!
Date, time and place of the in-game event to be announced this Friday (the event will NOT be this friday — just the announcement of the details).

Big thanks for putting guns and ammo in the GB. I blew all my coppers on training. Now I have Hunters Mark, Serpent Sting and Arcane shot………..the POWER……….the POWER !!!
There are guys actually going to spots like Mulgore to get pets !!……..I think I’m going to get another pig like I did when I got my first permanent pet. Poor old Scutters does not get used a lot anymore, but his namesake will be little Omo’s companion
Hit level 10 before going to work this morning. Picked up Timber (rare spawn wolf) for a pet. Ready for the event.

I can see it now, 200+ level 80 Dwarf Hunters standing at the gates of Orgrimmar.. it would be epic. xD

I’m having so much fun on Icecrown! Having people to talk to about hunting and hunters all day is amazing and getting the chance to do some crazy stuff is great after grinding so long. Even without the event itself being here yet it’s a blast! Nothing like 12 level 5-8 hunters trying to take down a horde DK the other day.

I know you cant do it personally, but instead get somebody to host it for you. Surely there’s some other dwarf hunter here :p

i anticipated this event and leveled my hunter(Killschott, i thought it was clever) to 13. Ol well, i can still join and wait for the lvl increase i guess.
Working on getting Minibella up to snuff:D I may go and tame a pink flamingo… are they still tamable?
Another vote from me for an EU version of this.
I quit WoW last month having reached burnout, my primary reason being there being very little left that was new to do.
An all-hunter guild sounds like an awesome idea!
Any chance you could at least promote the server and guild name here Frostheim if we could agree on one? I’d be happy to move my 80s (including a hunter of course!) over to the server of choice and start levelling my new hunter from there.

For all the same reasons as two days ago, there are no plans to do this on an EU or oceanic server.
Why are people putting so much CRAP in our guild bank….i don’t think we need grey’s in there.
I’m banker for our guild on my main. People ALWAYS put crap in the bank…..they think that “somebody” will want it. I clean it out once a week. I’ll fill all my spare bag space 3 or 4 times and vendor all the crap…then deposit the cash. It rarely totals 10 gold
A few observations.
I got the next to last gun.
It looks like WHU will single handedly wreck the server economy on low level mats.
It also looks like for every new hunter, there might be a DK (Do we need WDKU guild?) for gold purposes.
This is going to be ONE EPIC guild! Just think, one day we’ll do BIG things with all of our little Dwarfs.

This is a lot of fun. I’ve been taking the opportuninty to work on my kiting/jump shots… so all in all, its been a good thing!
The biggest issue is FINDING everything. I’ve always played Horde.

This is a fabulous idea. I have to admit, I have come back to wow and find all the new stuff a little overwhelming. I dont mind I am learning though. The thought of always having people to level with will make the whole process that much more fun and enjoyable.
I agree with Frost, the whole levelling process is such a drag, and one of the main reason I found the game difficult to play especially when having to quest by myself.

WHU should have an EU subsidiary then! There’s nothing else close in the world to the WHU for hunters, I doubt there’s any other ‘organisation’ out there that could put something like this together.

WHU has been my bible for a long time, and I suspect a great many other hunters too. It actually extended my enjoyment of the game by months and months, because it showed me all the things I could still do better as a hunter, even though I was already ‘good enough.’
(And I was soooo glad to finally read someone such as yourself make the call on Rowan’s Rifle, ’cause I’d been arguing (before I quit the game) that it’d be an upgrade for some very specifically geared and specced hunters.)
Point being, that for all the time I played WoW, I never found any other hunter site/resource to touch WHU (and I did look!).
As such, speaking from an EU perspective, it’s a shame – (although perfectly understandable, and I do respect your reasons on the matter) – that we EU folks can’t join in with cool stuff like an all-dwarf hunter guild and the events that could lead to
I imagine we will have a ton of engineers and leatherworkers. I think I will re-roll as inscription tonight. Even at level 10 we can Scroll of Agility and Stamina. Also, we need some alchemists for the potions.
Anyone run over to Loch Modan and see if the quest A Hunters Boast is available. The websites say you can’t do it until lvl 11, but the info on those is pretty old.
Chopley – it sounds like there is interest in an EU version. Perhaps you could take the Tauran by the horns and organize it and then share their exploits with your North American counterparts. Just a thought.

Ya I think I created a monster with the DK as a mule suggestion, funny thing is I never made one. I told you we would get over 90 Frost =D, this is gonna be awesome, hopefully my crappy connection can handle it
The happiest moment besides hitting 10 and getting the pet was hitting 8 and having conc shot, makes kiting so much easier. NOw I gotta go do a WSG so I can get my HKs on this guy without hitting 11

Frost could you announce your event at least 3 days before it’ll happen? I don’t wanna miss it even though I am from Europe, so will need some time to get to lvl10 on my 10 day trial

Btw it’s gonna get tougher to make another trial when you guys start doing lvl 50+ raids haha 9 days to get to 50+ is serious powerlvling
This has been a lot of fun. Just dinged 10, shut off XP (thanks DK!), and got my pet (Mylittlepwny). I’m all geared up and ready to blast crap. Let’s do something insanely fun. A world boss of some kind so we can all go at once. =)
Oh.. and also.. next time let’s cap it at 20 so we can have mounts.

I rolled “Luvchild” today and got up to lvl 7. There where dwarf hunters all over the place and they were helping each other. In trouble, np.. Somebody near-by would pop off a couple of rounds and help kill the mob. Great beginning of what a guild should be. And besides, it made me laugh and have fun again. Thanks for setting this up.

I just login and we now have 300 members, I believe the guild limit is 500. That is what everyone says, it looks like we might need to form another guild if we keep getting so many hunters. Its just amazing really at how big it’s grown so quickly.
I was on this morning ( I’m at GMT -3:30) and there were a bunch of Ozzies on ! or at least they said they were
When I logged off to go to work there were 305 members. I wnet to find my original pet and I can’t tame him because he’s level 13 ! ( I do remember not cluing in the pet for a few levels ) I also was running into IF last evening and must have just missed a “for the Horde” raid because a Horde Warrior and Pally came thundering down hill and a whole bunch of WHU guys opened up on them…………..they just kept riding 
Frost asked that we not put raw items in the bank just crafted items as it is difficult for people to take out much. There were some new leatherworking pants and boots in the bank this morning. I asked who needed leather and mailed it to them instead. Who knew that crafted gear could be an upgrade!
I put in a couple of greens, assuming there are enchanters who can DE them and use the mats.
Do you think we could have different guild ranks for the slew of level 10 dwarves so we can identify our roots? Like… guild ranks that group the WHU Guild members under the banner of what their hunter main is?
I think “Treehugger,” “Cow,” “Pansy,” “Greenie,” “Goat,” “Jamaican” and “DoubleDwarf” are all good monikers
Last night was a blast, I got to do Choc’sul with frosthein and 3 other members, seeing 4 serpent stings pop at same time on a target was awsome, picture350!! (Sorry bout the last part Frost but i kept rezzing in the middle of em)
I’m running about skinning already dead beasts and mining copper trying the raise the 10G to get XP turned off so I don’t hit lvl 11. I know I could roll a DK , but have never done that in the past, and really have no interest in doing it now. It’s amazing what a bloody fortune 10G is when you are lvl 10……..I pay more for that in repairs on every instance wipe on my main Hunter
It’s almost like a communist state. The guild bank provides everything I require, so I just mail all my farmed mats to Minibelle, so the guild crafters can keep putting stuff we need into the guild bank
I have to say I am impressed with how much fun this is. I find all sorts of shenanigans to get into with my level 10 hunter and preparing for the next big level push has been entertaining.

Actually scratch that, you have far more free time than I do and while I would normally just consider that an equivalency factor, I think our leveling skills are not THAT far apart.

This guild is the best! Everyone is so helpfull and constantly farming mats, crafting items, cooking buff food and just about anything els that can benifit the guild.
