One of the many things that I have in common with everyone, is that I like upgrades. I am a dps whore and I’m all about working my butt off for a little more dps. Lately, RNG has been my great nemesis.
I have in my head (and on my gear spreadsheet) a handful of upgrades that I’m really, really looking for. For various and sundry reasons, I’m waiting to get at least one of three upgrades before going on a frost emblem spending spree and re-juggling my talents and gems. I’m this close to finally getting to check armor pen gemming…. and I’ve been there forever.
My 25-man raid team, Wyrmfoe, hasn’t been around all that long. We hit ICC for the first time about six weeks ago. We’ve been killing Saurfang every week, and that bastard has yet to drop Deathbringer’s Will at all (and Hrist is still threatening to take it for himself, just to spite the dpsers). And I keep hearing about every other raid in the world talking about how high the drop rate is, and raids that are giving it away to offspecs, of all things.
In fact, in the 6 weeks or so of raiding with Wyrmfoe, I’ve yet to get an upgrade. In all that time only one Frostheim upgrade has dropped — a total of 1 Protectors Mark of Sanctificaiton has dropped, which went (understandably) to Hrist as the MT. Every other week it’s been marks for other classes (the scum!).
Alas while Wyrmfoe is taking down the Blood Prince council, we don’t quite have Festergut down yet (combination of low dps and trouble keeping everyone alive)… and of course Festergut has my belt!
MNK, our 10-man, has been a bit kinder and the Blood Queen did drop my Stakethrower (and thanks to everyone who’s emailed me grats on that), but I’m still waiting on Hersir’s Greatspear from the damned Blood Prince Council. Ah, the irresistable combination of hit rating and armor pen rating, with a couple of sockets to boot.
We’re hitting ICC again tonight (and who knows, maybe we’ll go take down Festergut — we have the raid buff now after all). So wish us luck for our first Deathbringer’s Will drop… and send mental urgings to Hrist to award it to me. After all, the melee classes got ez mode in so many ICC fights anyway, they don’t need the help.
I’m feeling it. Tonight will be your night for the drops.
I’ve been raiding ICC 25 since it hit. We have seen a total of two DBWs. One went to our warrior who was able to hard cap with it, and then who proceeded to quit the game for a new girl in his life 2 weeks later. I was supposedly second in line then, Then the guild leadership turned over, and our new hunter officer got it this week. At this rate we’re seeing one every 6 weeks, and who knows what sort of thing will happen next time it drops in terms of me getting bumped down the list, since pretty much all the melee dps in my guild want it as well.
I’ve had pretty rotten luck in 10 man. We’re on heroic modes now, but I will admit, it was more of a challenge than I expected it to be. Some of the hard modes are just brute force-able but others are very very tough for a semi casual hard core raiding guild (if that makes any sense, we raid ICC pretty competatively, but only 3 nights a week, no more. ever) I’m hoping for a heroic (or regular at this point) Hersir’s Greatspear, and hopefully a heroic Whispering fanged skull, but with my luck it’ll be summer before I get another upgrade.
The only positive thing I can say is that we’ve had a remarkable number of prot marks, I’ve already got my 4pc sanctified, and am going to be working on putting an alternate gear set together for my survival build

You don’t know how mappy it makes me that you are having trouble with festergut. That fight has been the bane of our guilds 25 man progression for a long while now and we finally downed him Tuesday.
He did drop the belt, however I was third on the list of hunters that rolled
sadpanda. Likewise, I have yet to see DBW drop at all, though I am the only hunter who has gotten any marks (2 of them, thank you very much) because my PR is typically high since I always show up for raids and they stopped giving EP for any 10 mans entirely.

Ive yet to get either the spear or DBW myself, but did manage to grab a battered hilt during one of my dailies. So my soon-to-be Quel’ Delar can tide me over until then.

I’ve seen WF Skull drop twice in four trips to ICC10 and have missed it both times. Damn those filthy DKs that stole hunter loot! Since we don’t roll for loot, having a needle encrusted scorpion (232) and mark of sup (245) equipped puts me at a disadvantage for trinket decisions that are based solely upon ilvl. The proc on the NEC is poor and the MoS is a waste of hit rating with new ICC gear for me at this point in time. I think I’ll sport some sub-ilvl 200 trinkets on our next run just in case

The RNG drop rate of tokens is damned ridiculous.
We have approx a 82% drop rate on vanquisher tokens. Which leaves about 9% for conq and prot.
GL on DBW by the way. We’re hoping on more heroic DBWs; got 2 out of 3 kills so far so we’ll see if the good drop rate keeps.

Speaking about planned upgrades Frost – you don’t plan to respec to get 3 points into Focused Aim? I am wondering which points would be the smallest sacrifice – probably 1 point from Improved Steady Shot and 1 point from Rapid Recuperation. Although with our random raid composition on 10 man, mana can be issue sometimes. Hard to judge just from femaledwarf.com.

I’m currently sitting on an excess of 150 Frost badges, waiting to get a Sanctification token and the 264 gloves from VOA25 so I can finally upgrade from my T9 2 piece.
I’ve seen both drop ONCE and neither time have I gotten them (I also sort of blame my loot council for this as no matter how much I explain the whole 4pc T10 vs 2pc T10/2pc T9 situation they don’t seem to get it).
And Deathbringer’s Will? Our raid has yet to see this thing drop. Whispering Fanged Skull? 11 Lady D 10 man kills that I’ve been in and I haven’t seen this trinket yet.
Wrists from 25 Gunship? Nope.
I have a fairly small loot list of Things I Really Need. And I’m denied every time we go into ICC, none of them drop. The plate people and clothies are rolling in loot and the Hunters are continually locked out. We’re thinking that ICC Hunter loot is largely a myth.

No Zod’s bow, no Hersir’s spear or Quel’Dalar, no DBW, no WFS, no DC even, 1 mark so far.
I’m in the same boat too Frost. I’ve been raiding ICC10 and 25 for months and I’ve seen 1 WFS (which our Shammy won) and zero DBWs. I’ve seen 2 marks drop but with 3 Hunters in guild, not even being the Raid Leader helped me win them. I have yet to see a Zod, Saurfang ring or the pants off 25 Deathwhisper. I share your pain.
Totally feeling ya here Frost, we’ve been downin all the way to Saurfang since week one and I have yet to see Leggings of the Northern Lights drop and I really really wanna get rid of my 245 Windrunner’s Legguards, as for Deathbringers Will, it finally dropped this week and thanks to an awesome loot council I won it straight away

omg man thats bad i’ve seen 3 death bringers will drop 3 weeks in a row but havnt had any luck cuz the 1st two it was a half pug and the 3rd time a warrior from the guild won it

Just wanted to say something about Fester, since you mentioned keeping people alive was an issue. Although its possible to grind heal your way through that fight, coordinating tank cool down ands priest/pally cooldowns for higher stacks and pungeant blight really helped us a lot. Oh, and until the patch comes out make sure that if you have a disc priest, have him sheild your arcane mages every chance he gets. Adds 1-2k DPS for constant damage fights.

This is my first post on here (I think) and I know how you feel about getting that one upgrade to just tie everything else together. I was lucky enough (as the Hunter Officer in my guild, and pro dps, naturally as I’m a hunter
), that I got the first DBW that dropped. I think it dropped on our 2nd kill. 7 week later another dropped and went to a warrior, instead of our awesomely pro other hunter who’s waiting to pick up enough ArP to make MM REALLY work for him.
Wish you the best of luck with it dropping next week dude, us hunters need to stick together. Also, do you know when last week’s HPP will be uploaded?

I waiting for a Rowan’s Rifle to appear on the auction house ….rotten hunter stats but it will mean over 100dps above the Felglacier Bolter and it’s probably the only way I’ll get a new gun for the next 100 years
I pugged the first wing of both ICC 10 and 25 yesterday. There was another hunter that showed up in both pugs. Ran 10 man first, and Whispering Fanged Skull dropped. The other hunter won the roll.
Ran 25 man later, Zod dropped. The same damn other hunter won the roll.
It just wasn’t my day.
Festergut could also be nice and drop you a Distant Land, in addition to the belt, so it’s quite important to have him on farm asap. As for DBW, well it dropped twice in 13 weeks. The first one went to a rogue and the second one to a feral druid, I’m counting 6 weeks since that happened. Also in 13 weeks, the pants from Deathwhisper only dropped once.
I pugged ICC a while ago as our guild is small and we only run 10′s, DW dropped I rolled a 100, and. . . . . .we got ninja’ed lol. . . sucks big time and I actually rolled 96 or something on the hunter token aswell on the same raid. Though it was Christmas then reality kicked in. . . .damn ninjas!!
We’ve only seen Deathbringer’s Will drop once in well over a dozen kills.
Sindragosa’s Cruel Claw dropped the other night and I passed to our Marksmanship Hunter, being the good little Survival Hunter that I am. I’ll make the switch as soon as I upgrade my ranged weapon, but right now I have so much haste over ArPen and I already have Wodin’s Lucky Necklace; I couldn’t justify taking a drop itemized so well for a Marks hunter. I only regret that he took Zod’s from me the same week.

It was actually Frostbrood Sapphire Ring that dropped, while I have Band of the Bone Colossus and the rep ring; but you get the idea.
I can sympathize and relate! Except for Njorndar Longbow, every other patch 3.3 upgrade is from Frost Emblems.
• Deathbringer’s Will dropped on the first kill, and only the first kill. I didn’t have as much DKP as one of the melee officers. Eight kills later, it hasn’t dropped again.
• Whispering Fanged Skull: 0 drops in 8 kills. The Njorndar Longbow, which I’m using, has dropped six times. We only run one hunter per ICC10 group.
• Zod’s: Dropped last week but the upgrade from Njorndar is minor; I saved my DKP.
• Distant Land hasn’t dropped but we’ve only killed Festergut-25 twice.
• Haven’t downed Princes-10 yet so no Greatspear for me (ideal for its ArP).
• Wodin’s Lucky Necklace has dropped twice, both on weeks I couldn’t raid.
Patch 3.2 was much more generous with me. I had nearly all 245s before 3.3 hit. I’m still in mostly 245s.
