Slow news day in Frost land, so I’ll just give you a bit more of the collected widom of Hrist:
I am fascinated by art like an alien is fascinated by an inferior race. – Hrist
Oh, and Valithria totally schooled MNK last night. Though we did learn that we only need one healer to handle all of the raid healing in 10-man. And Bella accidentally discovered a new button that records the game footage, which was fun. But it looks like that fight is going to take us some time ![]()
Epic..5/5
Our main tank went holy for this and our OT tanked all the adds, it seems holy palas are the way forward!
But it’s quite entertaining fight – lots of mobs with cool abilities, healing boss and so – me likes.

Yeah this boss took our 10man group a couple of night wiping then when we came back to do it after days or wiping we one shot it
. I also think that this fight is best done as SV cause if ur put on kiting the anoying blistering zombies the reduced trap cooldown time and increased duration is a huge help not to mention the lock and load procs.
Oh yeah, a tip a guildie came up with was when the blazing skeletons come out, they pick a target before they focus people can taunt the skeleton to prolong the time beefore he casts ( obv i use distracting shot) but everyone in the raid to chuck any taunts you can, by teh time everyone has the dps should of downed him
just realised how bad that was worded, haha but i hope you get the jist.
Interesting — well if you guys want to see us in action, you can click on the Cheerleader’s link above, which was our first attempt. We did a pretty good job of handling the adds (about 7 min – which is right about the soft enrage timer) despite a chunk of mistakes.
You can also see me kiting the zombies with the kiting version of the shoot n’ scoot, leaving time for auto-shots to fire off while kiting, as well as the occasional jump-disengage (3:17 was a nice one).
As Máher said if you get a rangde to taunt and kite the blazing skeletons and makes sure no melee gets close to it at any point you can avoid it ever going into casting the AOE.
This fight has been kicking our ass too, giving us an ego check after quite a lot of ICC success. We haven’t really come close. But I like the Blazing idea…I’ll definitely be trying that. Thanks Maher.
And yeah, gotta watch me those vids…it’s been a while since we’ve seen Frost in action.
First time ive watched frost in action,
, we have two ranged around were the supresors then you can lay down a frost trap slows them down a bit trying to kill them before they reach her, having a mage frost nova helps alot those supressors are bastards!
So from the video, it look like you’re running survival spec. Would you say that, as with the bloodbeasts in the Saurfang fight, this is an instance where survival is the better option?
this is the link to the second video:D

we have one shot this boss since our first kill on both 10 and 25. we normaly divide the melee to the sides and have all the rangede in the middle helping out on the side where they are needed. if you have a DK you can but ice chains on the blazing to help slow it down and keep it out of melee range. and ofc abnomonation have lowest prio and we have one tank having arggo on it until everything else is dead. As soon as you get a good flow gong and ppl are fast at anouncing what adds is comming from what side the fight gets really esay.
Do it with one tank. The extra DPS makes it infinitely easier. At least it did for us. One healer heals the raid. Two healers take the portals every time and continue to stack their buff.
The orbs are a bit of a bitch for healers. A few tips:
1. Try to time it so that you get an orb right before the portal expires
2. It can be tricky to hit the damn orbs as it’s hard to tell where they are in relation to you while flying in a 3D space. What I do is fly to where it appears to be and then spazz out a bit with my mouse (move around). Just for a second. That helps to ensure that if you fly over or under it (or the side) that you actually will hit it.
3. If you’re a druid and you get hit by a frost bolt before going in, shapeshift to free yourself — other classes dispell yourself if you can. Otherwise you will be moving to slow and will drop your stack.
4. Feel free to pop a Wild Growth or other instant cast group heal on your melee or grouped casters. When you have your buff stacked up it tops them off easily. And, it doesn’t take much off Valithria. However, don’t worry about it if your raid healer has it covered. Druid’s also don’t forget to swiftmend Valithria every time it’s up. Keep all those hots stacked and rolling and spam the holy hell out of nourish.
It’s critical that the stack keep building on two healers and never falls off. If it does fall that’s pretty much a wipe.
Other tip:
Make sure to split DPS to the appropriate mobs. Melee: skeletons, mages, fatties, worms — in that order. Ranged on the zombies and suppressors. It’s critical that DPS take minimal damage. DPS must be aware of what can hurt them and how. The raid healer cannot keep everyone alive and needs to focus on the tank, especially when the tank has the armor debuff.
Good luck!
Kaeleb: I went back and forth from MM to SV on the fight (assigned to kite the zombie). The zombies didn’t seem to die any faster in either spec, so I think I’ll be SV going forward only because mana was a problem, and things died to fast to take advantage of the MM cooldowns. No boss
Beef: we didn’t have any problem on the mobs side of things. We went to or past the soft enrage almost every time. Super easy fight from a dps perspective. From what I understand, very hard for the healers.
did you go with 2 or 3 healers?
and did your mage use amplifiy magic on the boss to increase the healing?
When we first done it in my guild, this was the raid setup:
Prot Pally
Resto Drood
Holy Pally
Holy Priest
Resto Shamie
2 MM Hunters
Fury Warrior
Combat Rogue
Unholy DK.
For the portals, designated the drood, holy paly and myself ( MM hunter ). Shamie took care of the raid, priest/pally on the boss, and drood was healing where needed. I managed to get up to 32 stacks of the debuff in portals before we healed her up to full. For that little time I was dps-ing the adds in between portal spwans, I managed to kill 2-3 adds myself, and getting the grp staying outside some breathing room. Definitly takes some practice, but it is very easy once u get used to it.
Yeah it really is a pain for healers. The tips in my post above might help them. We still don’t 1-shot her every time because of how easy it is to lose the stacked buff.
It’s a cool fight for healers, but because of the funky mechanics Blizz really needs to cut us some slack. I would like to see the timer increased on the buff as well as the “live” area of the orbs — so that if you end up flying off to the side, above or below you’ll still get it. Assuming you’re close enough.
These two things should keep it challenging while helping to compensate for latency.
