I have to say I’m positively delighted every time I see the first and final draft of these comics. Shadowstreak is always adding in this hilarious touches that make me laugh — like Gnolldeath’s antics or the hilarious recount (all the script said was that there should be a meter with me on top and Arust just behind — and Gnolldeath wasn’t in the description at all).

Awesome! There used to be a fellow hunter in my guild that would compete with me. It always turned into a battle like your comic (trickery of some sort), and no one else ever understood what was going on. “It’s a hunter thing” was usually our reasoning.
Also of note, I have race changed my hunter. He was formerly a fairy humpin’ Night Elf. Now he’s a ridiculously good looking member of the Master Race – the Dwarves! (Thanks for the email, Frost!)

I do feel that we Night Elf, bow-wielding hunters are being a bit under-represented here. Frost I know you are QQ-ing about the Lich King dropping a bow… but shouldnt it be telling you something? Im sure Arust will get his own back after this piece of trickery!

I’m an Alliance hunter on Windrunner that began playing back in the vanilla WoW days and I’ve been lurking on your site for many years. I trust your theories since you have huge data sets (which is a total turn-on for chicks, btw) and generally try to avoid the “other” sites when I am in need of definitive information.
A huge debate raged today within my guild regarding hunter global CDs. Everyone (but me) insisted haste reduced the global CD. Having already read everything you had to say about haste and the global CD, I knew this was not true. However, I was unable to tell them WHY. Feeling like I was in desperate need of an int buff finally pushed me to write to you with this question.
Why is it that hunters are the only class that cannot reduce their global CD with haste? What was Blizzard’s reasoning in doing this? Did it have something to do with the days of single key macro spams?
Any light you can shed on this subject would be appreciated and even though I would love to tell them I figured it out all by myself, I will give you proper credit

Most classes have a GCD of 1.5 seconds (I believe rogues and feral kitties have a 1sec base GCD, but not certain — don’t pay a lot of attention to them). Anyone whose abilities are affected by *spell* haste will have their GCD lowered by their haste, to a minimum of 1 sec. Those classes that are not affected by spell haste are stuck at a 1.5 sec GCD — this basically just leaves hunters, warriors, and death knights at the 1.5 sec.
As for *why* they decided to do this, I cannot say, but I suspect it’s this: Haste did not always affect the GCD, and when it was changed was back when we had a “spell haste” stat. So when all haste became the same thing, they kept the distinction of whether haste would affect the GCD based on the old spell haste vs haste mentality. Really, it’s just a leftover from a couple of outdated mechanics, honestly.
Right now the hunter class is balanced around a 1.5 sec GCD, so they can’t change it without upsetting that balance. However in Cataclysm everything is being reworked and rebalanced anyway, so it’s entirely possible that we’ll see haste affect everyone’s GCD the same way (which would make life a lot simpler).
