Delightful

Given the way these things go, I’m probably way, way behind on this stuff. Fortunately I now spend too much time hanging out in the WoW.com chatroom where in addition to the lolcats, people post all manner of interesting things.

So it was that I learned the Discovery Channel had this delightful commercial with an incredibly catchy little song driving it. Take a moment and watch if you can.

It was apparently so catchy that people started uploading their own versions, which prompted the Discovery PR department to push for the viral advertising full bore and encourage more of the same.

Enter Irdeen with a purely delightful WoW version, which is big fun by any measure, but in particular after seeing the original commercial:

I’ve actually thought time and again about starting up a blog whose sole purpose was to collect and categorize all the WoW music out there — because there is a ton of it these days, and I keep stumbling across more and more stuff that was released years ago. Makes me wonder how much more I’m missing.

It was actually the WHU BBQ that got me thinking of this. I was scheduling something for the spring and realized that we should do the BBQ again. Then I thought it’d be awesome to have a massive compilation of WoW music to play at the event (or even better, a live band playing wow stuff – how awesome would that be?).

Does a site like that already exist? Something complete with embedded YouTube links and links to any mp3 downloads available, etc.?
