Note: we still have DPS slots available on the Wyrmfoe raid team (full on hunters). In particular we’d love to see a fury warrior, rogue, feral druid, or warlock but any dps that’s not a hunter is welcome to apply on the Wyrmfoe Website.

Wyrmfoe hit up our first couple of training raids on Friday, hitting Naxx, Sartharion, and a good chunk of Ulduar. Most of the raid team did extremely well with all of Hrist’s crazy shenanigans, and we were showered with achievements throughout the the weekend, including several that I didn’t have the 25-man version of, which was nice.

Our raid of 20 picked up Subtraction, Arachnaphobia, Momma Said Knock You Out, And They Would All Go Down Together, The Hundred Club, Just Can’t Get Enough, The Dedicated Few, Less is More, Dwarfageddon, Unbroken, Nerf Gravity Bombs, Shutout, and a handful of others that I didn’t notice ’cause I already had ‘em. In particular I thought And They Would All Go Down Together was a nice accomplishment, even horribly overgeared, for a raid of 20. We even had a few people who are still gearing up grab some upgrades too.

As always Hrist and I were monitoring our fail addon in our super secret channel. If you aren’t familiar with these addons, they just report every time someone takes damage they should have been able to avoid (standing in void zones, etc). I have my failbot left to mostly default settings – which means it does report on some insignificant fails, or fails that may not be someone’s fault (such as getting feared into void zones on Auriaya). But for the most part it’s interesting data to examine and can tell you a lot about why you’re wiping repeatedly, or where you raid team needs work in general. We often use it to determine what kind of things need to be called out over vent (ie: the kinds of things that many people aren’t noticing on their own).

One of the other fascinating things about watching failbot reports is you very quickly realize how often everyone makes mistakes. It is incredibly rare that you can run an entire instance of any size without everyone getting on the report in some form or another. In the past, the only exception to this was typically Hrist, who would often manage not to have any fails.

However, not last weekend! During the lava dance when no one was allowed to dps (testing situational awareness when you don’t have to worry about anything else) Hrist got evil and decided to test the melee guys by deliberately moving into the lava area to see if they were paying attention to where they were standing, or just blindly following him. The delightful result is that Hrist appeared on the fail report for it. Which gave us this exciting synopsis at the end of Naxx:

nofail

Woo yeah! Frostheim with the only flawless run! (Which did not happen in Ulduar, by the way).

Grats! What’s the name of the addon? I wouldn’t mind giving it a test run in my own raids.

  2. Hrist says:

I forget, who was the only person on Saturday night with no fails? :P

The name of the addon is EnsidiaFails. I find it much more useful than Recount for this because you don’t need to hunt down the information, it is presented in a nice, concise format. Also, you can broadcast it to a private channel so no one sees it or gets offended. As long as you are nicer than the mod about delivering the feedback it’s a non-issue.

once i found out that the PTBs were using this addon a few months ago, i loaded it up too.. i wanted to see what i was doing wrong.. and btw.. i landed on the fail list quite often :( Regardless of it yelling at me, I really like it:D the only flaw is.. even though i am not transmitting to anyone, and just wanting to see what i was doing wrong.. the addon only lets one person have it “enabled” during the raid. :( I found it really helpful to see myself what i was doing, and i hope it has led to my improvement in situational awereness:D

Does the addon report stuff such as having a void zone pop right under you as a fail? I know some void zones have animations or DBM warnings before they pop up, but I noticed some just show up and you get the warning as you’re standing in it.

Is that type of thing counted as a fail?

more spots… hrm… so tempted, so so tempted. Of course my rogue is only 31 right now (leveling through instancing and BGs), I’ve got a lock but he’s only 55… dang.

My guild is like an eerie doppleganger of Frost’s, right down to the enraged main tank, perky healer, and devilishly good-looking hunters. And no sooner had I installed this addon then my guild decided we needed to do a Naxx run. Spooky. Now, we weren’t being tested constantly by our tank, but we were going for the Undying achievement, so not failing was still a priority. I’m proud to say I was among those without a fail on the night, though there were a few others. And we got the achievement, so it was a good run.

    :-)

Congrats on all the achievements, i wish you raided Aussie times i would apply in a flash your weeknights are my weekdays :( and I am at work, have to pay for wow somehow and and keep a roof over my head. I am lucky that my guild run the main raids Friday and Saturday night giving me the opertunity to take part. The aussies servers when i first started could take 1-2 hours just to log on and your paying for it. Things have changed since a few new realms have been added however all my 3 x 80s are on a US server 2 main hunters and a boomkin/heals druid . I did start again on a Aussie server and yes I rolled another hunter lol there so awsome all best with the new guild .

  8. Frostheim says:

Of course our raids night are Friday and Saturday nights — so your weekend days :)

  9. Arthemystia says:

Forget work, Fradin. Sacrifice for the WHU.
