ThinkGeek Cool Spy stuff

For much of the last several days I have been like a 5-year old at the grocery store, tugging on Hrist’s pantleg and asking, “Can I have it? Please? Can I? Huh? Huh?”

Specifically I had calculated that if we reset our 10-man raid twice after clearing the pre-Marrowgar trash, our raid team would reach honored with the Ashen Verdict. It was a logical thing to do. Our raid team has basically no upgrades outside of ICC, and since there are only the four bosses at the moment, we end up with a bunch of downtime. Sure we could gather up some of those achievements that nag at me, but no upgrades. So spending an hour to clear the trash three times would actually benefit our raid more, since everyone would get a ring upgrade.

Of course Hrist wasn’t fooled by this, not for a moment. We both knew what I really cared about, and that was my ammo. I was even carrying around 40 eternal earth wherever I went, just in case – who knows – maybe I’d stumble on an unknown quest that granted AV rep, or discovered a kind of mob you could kill.

Shut up, it could happen.

I had also shelled out the big bucks for a Primordial Saronite from the AH, and I was carrying that around too. Oh yeah, I was ready. Hell, I was ready to disengage halfway through an ICC trash pack, hit the Nitro Boosts, and zoom off to the vendor the instant I hit honored. Those bullets are badass. I mean, they’re not just emotionally satisfying, they are a huge upgrade, as upgrades go.

Well, Hrist finally relented. More to the logic, I think, than any desire to help me (and as an aside, the entire guild) get epic ammo. Oh yeah. A few trash clears, two resets, and everyone was running off for their new rings, and I was crafting a little bit of violet death on the floor of Icecrown Citadel.

What can I say about my new Shatter Rounds. They are so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking them up.

Oh, and here’s your Hrist tip for the week:

Ah yes, the glories of our new ammo. I picked up the recipie last night as well, only the guild provided the saronite for it (yay for raiding guilds who care about their hunter dps). I’m looking forward to the ring at revered rep as well, AP proc is a nice upgrade.

  2. Omogon says:

Another Hunter who keeps his Dragonscale Ammo pouch full :D I am nowhere close to getting the new ammo but I do get a bit crazy when I drop below 20,000 rnds in reserve !

  3. Mormodre says:

Ye indeed, the arrows are a big upgrade. about 3 days ago there was a lvl 1 selling 200 stacks of it and bought like 50 of them. Only 10g a stack which wasn’t that expensive. He said I bought so much I could whisper his on his main and just provide the mats for it. Yep, I aint an engineer thats the only downside. Play at vashj btw.. dunno if 10g a stack is a relative low price since you only need 2 crystallized shadow to make em.

  4. Prelious says:

Upgraded ammo appeared in our AH about two days ago. Started at 60G/1000 dropped to 40G/1000 within 8 hours…was at 22G/1000 last night. I picked up a few thou just to try em out and I love em. I’ll wait till price bottoms out to fill up. Gotta be real careful in AH now cause you’ll see, for example, 1000 new arrows at 25G and 100 new arrows at 20G. You know how AH truncates ’1000′ but not 100? If you arent paying attention you could get taken.

  5. Deepfriedegg says:

GZ for the recipe (how much did you pay for the Primordial Saronite? 1-2x Epic fying costs? :p). Anyways, just a question. Are you going to change your engineering spec and buy another recipe for arrows when Lady D drops either her 10 man or 25 man bow? :) Or are you going to buy that ammo from AH? Or are going to wait several months for Steakthrower that is drops from BDSM queen Lana´Thel 25? :)

  6. Deepfriedegg says:

@Prelious: am I too bad for doing this to mitigate my raiding costs? :p I just collect some gold and love letters from my mailbox :)

  7. I have nothing to say about the new bullets, frost… but I like the ferris buller quote… :)

  8. Fidgety says:

I read this post along with a few other randoms scattered around the blog and found myself laughing at points. Love the information and the dramatic expressions expressed. I’ll deff be coming back for some hunter advice. :)

  9. Marty says:

I got my Shammy mate to craft me 10,000′s for free, which was good as he’s been selling them in the AH for a week and made 40,000g+ (75g ea) and still going.

Oddly however is they arrows have been selling like hot cakes, but no movement on the Bullets, so, do people who care about their dps on our server only have Bows??

(He made loads of arrows, then switched his engineering to bullets, but now is looking to switch back)

  10. Zat says:

Marty, there just aren’t that many guns these days. The only 245 gun that’s really attainable is the Onyxia gun, which unless your a dwarf isn’t as god as the crossbow from TOC25.

It’s also been my experience that in the 15 or so times I’ve cleared TOC 25 the cross bow has dropped about 5 times. In that same span of 15 or so Onyxia kills I’ve never seen the gun drop. It could just be the RNG, but maybe it’s just me.

  11. Tyberiuss says:

Great post. Based on comments, it seems the arrows will have higher demand.
    ………Save Ferris

  12. Frostheim says:

In the gun world there is the Onyxia gun, the Diplomat from TotC, and of course the BRK from the tribute chest.

I’m not concerned about arrows. I have never in my career used a bow. I have never trained the bow skill. I’m happy to let others have the bow and wait for the ICC gun drop.

  13. Kaeleb says:

Just a note for anyone planning on switching back and forth between specializations for the arrows and bullets, reports seem to indicate that the pattern will disappear from your profession list when you switch to the opposite profession, but will reappear when you switch back.

  14. Dergidan says:

    Ah, Dwarves with GUNS.

    It’s simply right.

  15. Omogon says:

I have a confession (looks around nervously) …I bought a cheap vendor bow and a crossbow and trained both skills up to max………. and I carry around a stack of saronite razorheads just in case a nice arrow flinger drops. I am starting to despair of ever getting a new gun. Every time one that’s even remotely better than my True Aim Long Rifle drops there are other hunters in the party and they win the roll :(

  16. Zat says:

    Omogon

Keep at it and you’ll win a roll one of these times. If you carry around arrows then you might as well carry around a scope as well. You know just in case. It helps with rolls.

  17. Ensif says:

This may be a dumb question, but… How do you reset the trash mobs?

  18. quivering says:

im a troll and i traded my sirens cry for widebarrel flintlock.

man i hated myself when it dawned on me what i had done ><

  19. Arthemystia says:

    Hahahahaha, Ferris Bueller!

  20. Stormreign says:

I have never – and will never – train or use a gun. Period. It’s just not right.

  21. Fradin says:

Ensif you just reset the instance without killing a boss , or if that does’nt work the trash will respawn every 2 hours i think. As for guns i know why they are so rare they all drop from 25 man raids mostly you cant get in a 10 man these days a get a good gun . I have 2 hunters Fradin my main still is using a true aim rifle from TOC and argary my alt engineering hunter which i have only just started gearing him up has a new crossbow already from Eck in the pit of saron in 5 man heroic its just so easier to get a bow or crossbow compared to the gun. Which makes my drawf hunters sad :( .

  22. darponz says:

sweet would love that new ammo if someone didint somehow change my battle.net account name and stupid blizz with there line overflow making me hold for 3 hours till i give up

  23. Fradin says:

how can they change your battle net account name isn’t it your email address ? If this is the 1st time since you changed to battle net it uses your email address as your user name.

  24. Lenwe says:

Are those “Old” bullets for special occasions?

  25. darponz says:

yeah fradin it uses my email but someone somehow changed it to there email and now im complelty locked out and blizz has its line full so i cant contact them what so ever about this prblem

  26. Frostheim says:

The stack of Mammoth Cutters is there as a paranoid insurance measure. If I run out of bullets mid-raid I can switch to the backup stack. Yes, I’m paranoid, but the cost of running out is so high I figure the insurance is worth it.

  27. Wolf says:

heh on my server moron eng’s r charging 300g a stack for bullets about same for most on arrows hell one has them for 110k a stack so yea got well words i want to use wont be good for a public site so i wont say them so just put it this way i wish murder was legal

  28. Orcha of Bloodscalp says:

YES, this morning the bullets finally got available on ah. As a gunslinger I have been watching in dispair how the arrows has been selling for 9g per stack but not a single bullet has been up for sale. This morning someone probably realised that they would make more money selling bullets instead. It has been very disturbing buying mammoth cutters for 12g/stack knowing that archers are getting way more damage for onle 75 % of the price.
Price on my server this morning was 16g/stack of bullets, it so worth it.
I’m gonna smile all day :)

  29. Deepfriedegg says:

I dont know if Frost as an engineer will like this post but for you others who thin ammo is expensive on you servers, try this: buy a stack or two of 1000, say for 40g each. Repost it for price you think that is acceptable. Say 25g. But dont repost the full stack of 1000 for this price but just stack of 100. If you only sell 2 stacks, you already profit but what is even better, there will be morons “sligthly undercutting” you with THEIR ammo stacks of 1000 for 24g 50. So the next day, you can buy a stack of 1000 for almost half the price it was the day before and you also profit “financially”
Good luck and enjoy your extra 150 DPS from the epic ammo

  30. Absol says:

Personally I will never sell a stack of 100 instead of 1000, even on a bank alt. At this time I’m the only seller of bullets on my server and I’ve sold about 3k gold worth at 35g a stack, I’m loving the profits.

  31. Jady says:

OMG is there anyone on terokkar realm that can make these?! I’ve been looking for aaagggeeees:S :( :(:(

  32. Omogon says:

Shatter Rounds have showed up on Lethon AH for just over 30G/1000. So I bought a bunch :)

  33. Vael says:

Oh sure, you mock hunters who camp for the Spirit Beasts but then flat-out refuse to use a bow…I see how you are. ;)
    *snicker*

  34. Thorzwilhunt says:

I was super excited last night on Terenas to see a guy in trade chat selling the shatter rounds for 20g a stack or 15g ea for 10 stacks. I whispered him and asked if it’d be any cheaper if I bought a lot. He went down to 10g if I bought 20 stacks, or 200 gold total. So I asked what if I bought 40 stacks. He wnt down to 5gea for 40 stacks, or 200gold! I’ve never ran to IF bridge so fast in my life! He even said he’d love to sell me more , I was like heck yea!

P.S. hope he doesn’t figure out he’s giving me 20,000 rounds free every time, lol.

  35. Khalihd says:

lol my realm was pretty entertaining when this first hit the AH there was only oe guy who could make so he put them in for 195g a stack and people actualy bought them. I actualy knoweing howw much it costs to get them made waited 3 hours and got some for 10g a stack :)

  36. Khalihd says:

also to you haveing those mamoth cutters in your bag arent those just takeing up space for a stack of shater rounds rather than as spair ammo. that only works if you dont keep it in your ammo bag.

  37. Thorzwilhunt says:

I’m the same way, I cary 5 stacks of mammoth cutters, and 12 stacks or shatter rounds. I just use the mammoth cutters for dailies and farming now, lol.

  38. Teilathan says:

Our server doesn’t have that many goblin engineers, and none in our guild wanted to change, “teleporters” (and as I’m only one in guild lucky enough to have BRK, other hunters didn’t really care). Took me 2 hours whispering different guilds that I knew have been in icc at least few times, and found 1 finally. Didn’t have much rep so organized rep farming group (and at least for this got more volunteers from guild than could take with me). 3h after we started I got my bullets :) . And now have 100 stacks of them (literally) in mailbox waiting for me to use (bit overboard?)

  39. Leisant says:

Who cares about teleporters now anyway? I think I have gone to Everlook or k3 maybe twice in the past year. Its all about the AMMO! I must admit those rounds look badass, although I don’t see many guns in my future. Horde side, I am guessing its on purpose that the tribute chest drops a bow for Trolls and a gun for Dwarfy types. Soon as I could I ran off to tanaris to change specs when I realized I had to be gnomish for arrows. Arrows seem to be the way to go for Horde.

  40. Tlord says:

    Business Savy:

Buy low/ Sell high… At this point prices have come down..but still here are the numbers. 60g per eternal shadow stack..3g per eternal …eternal yeilds 5 stacks that sell at 5g/ea…25g per eternal minus cost = 22g …multiply by the 20 stacks = 440g per day :D ..never have I made so much money as I sleep ;-)

P.S. I don’t run the risk of putting more than 100 on for the sheer fact of being undercut and waking up to the beautiful full inbox only to find 40 sold and i’m undercut on the other 60 and chances are im losing the, roughly, 6g of posting all those and will ahve to wait with now ” dead-stock” until the undercutter arrows sell.
