Last second pet scaling comment from Blizzard:

Are pets going to scale for 3.3?
If we can get it in. On a technical side, the implementation just ends up being a little different for every stat.

Keep in mind that pet scaling isn’t essential to good damage. It’s only essential for keeping your pet’s damage growing at the same rate as your damage, and by extension keeping your total damage growing at the same rate as other classes. There aren’t going to be 3 more tiers of content for Lich King, so it only gets to be an issue if other classes scale so much better that they leapfrog you in Icecrown / the final PvP season.

I read this to mean “No.” Furthermore, does that imply grim things about the patch going live tomorrow?

/looks at his BM spec hunter on the bench

    Oh dear.

weak, i was hoping for SOMETHING. though i dont know im keen on the idea of delaying 3.3 over it…

Blizzard always likes to stuff us hunters around promised pet scaling which would be awesome for tanking or soloing but as you said Frost that post says to me no way we can’t be bothered unless we are getting our butts kicks. Looks like they are going to wait to see how much dps we are losing compared to other classes if its hardly anything they will do nothing !, if its alot then we have to suffer while they fix it thanks blizzard for nothing from all us hunters..

The biggest issue with pets is now as Blizzard points corerctely out that with every patch pets become less and less importtant. Their damage improves but slower than ours, making their dps a smaller and smaller part of out total dps every patch.

This affects all specs, but of course BM more.

Also as I predicted, pet scaling wasn’t going to be a simple spec transfer. Probbaly they will lower the base specs for some talents and then add the scaling. So it can in fact intheory be a dps loss for early lvl 80 hunters!
However that requires a lot of tweaking, which explains why it is different for each type.
Most hunters have high crit and low haste for instance. Transferring haste as pet haste would be nice but is not helping its dps much. So they would have to add it to scale its transfer. However for BM hunters with haste talents or those rare hunsters with massive haste, this would mean they actually have to limit the scale again. But then not so much it wouldn’t limit transfer for the 90% other hunters … I see ArP math stuff again :-) Also nice is that if haste goes up, does it affect melee or also special atatcks. I’d assume the latter, but this also means that those hunters with only one point in GftT will need to pick up teh second one after al ..

Crit could however be almost 1-on-1 be transferred, except for some checking for (pet) talents whether they should be additive or multiplative (e.g. 5% extra is 1,05 times or just plus 0,05).

Anyway, probably won’t make it untill 3.3.1 or so …

And since Blizzard still loves ArP and hates haste for us hunters, I doubt we expect to see too much effect annyway.
