When we were still new to ICC and raid dps was lower, the fight used to drag on enough that I could run low on mana, especially if we were short on mana regen in the raid make-up. I used to switch to viper during the bone storm to take advantage of the run time to mana up a bit instead of having to viper during the fight stage.

I still MD the tank after the bone storm tho it isn’t as important as it used to be since the aggro is not completely wiped anymore and he is tauntable.

Hotfix (2010-03-04): “In the Lord Marrowgar encounters, the boss will no longer reset threat after a bone storm and will now wait a small amount of time before attacking at the end of a bone storm.”

Okay, so in this fight on 10 man, my raid leader told us during phase 2(bonestorm) that we should move to the center, im not sure why he said this, because i’ve never done that, but we ended up wiping.. The bonestorm got us, mixed with the flame he was shooting at us, any idea why the raid leader suggested this? Thanks

I am not sure i entirely agree that the MM hunter will lose more DPS without using Serpent sting since the SV hunter would lose overall damage bonus as well as his DOT.

The SV hunter should use scorpid sting. MM will lose a lot more dps from the loss of serpent than SV.

Frosthiem, I would like to start by saying your a god among Hunters and I’d like buy you a beer if I ever met you. But I have a question. Last night was my first raid with new guild as well as my first ICC encounter. We had 2 well geared SV Hunters, as well as me being a decent geared but lowest of the three, also SV Hunter. But after the second wipe, we asked one of the Hunters to respec to MM for the True Shot Aura buff because he was the only one with that Duel-Spec. The raid leader decided that one of the hunters should cast Scorbid Sting on Marrowgar to help the healers and tanks and he didn’t have a preferance on which hunter did it. This in lies the question, which of the hunters would be the best canidate for the Scorbid Sting on Marrowgar (of coarse the Spikes get Serpant)? Does the MM hunters Chimera Shot bonus for the Scorbid Sting (Disarm the boss for 10s if it accually applies for Marrowgar) help the best, or will his DPS help more and I Scorbid Sting because I have the least of the Hunters in DPS?

I got to down all four bosses before this post was made, and I am happy in knowing the strats that came immediately to mind are the same as you posted here. Reading over the post, I did notice one suggestion not mentioned. Deterrence works against Bonestorm, and when he comes my way I use it to take stress off of the healer.
