Hunter Tier-9 2-Piece Set Bonus: Critical damage from Serpent Sting will now work properly with the Mortal Shots and Expose Weakness talents.
Some of your points have been pretty convincing and have been taken into consideration. While this is more of a design change vs. a bug, I have found that it should in fact be a 100% critical damage multiplier. This will be corrected for 3.2.2, but may not be in a build until next week.
As soon as I got my 2 pieces of T9, I ran to the target dummies to test it out and was instantly disappointed to discover that the crits were on a 50% multiplier, and unaffected by mortal shots.
Now I was still happy mind you, because the set bonus was still really really good, even at the 50% multiplier (and I assumed mortal shots would get fixed). But seeing that they’ll bump it up to full hunter crits is just awesomesauce.
Best set bonus ever.
Lucky you. The dps warrior set bonuses for this expansion have been woefully mediocre to outright terribad. The t9 tank ones are pretty sad too. The t8 ones are so good, I really am going to have a hard time justifying switching to t9 gear

I would be getting my second piece of T9 gear tonight (232 gloves, we’re only just starting on ToCr next week…) but we had a surprise Uld raid last night and since I’m #1 DPS I can’t just back out to PUG a daily heroic. I am quite looking forward to getting the damage increase from the gimped two piece bonus now, and then another increase after 3.2.2 goes live! Yippie!
I changed my thoughts and went for the non trophy (232) version pants and gloves. I was seeing crits of 1K + per tick on a fairly consistent basis on serpent sting against a dummy with only TS Aura and AotDH. I am fairly pleased with bonus so far. To hear it will be further boosted is a fist full of awesome. I can’t wait.
By my quick and dirty calculations changing to these two pieces out and keeping my T8.5 helm and chest worked out to be about a 300-400 DPS gain. How much is contributed to the set bonus is unknown at this time.
does this mean that the 2pc T9 set bonus will make switching from SV to MM a no-brainer?
No – the T9 set bonus is a bit better for MM, but it’s pretty close to the same for either. The T9 set bonus does not affect Chimera shot, so it’s not heavily weighted to MM. Both specs will have mortal shots after all.

This website is a hunter dps analyzer. It’s important to import your armory profile, make sure you have TSA turned on (if ur MM) and that hunter’s mark is turned on. You must also set your shot priority. Hit ‘Update DPS’…… in the results you can scroll down to where is says ‘Gear Bonuses’ and displayed will be the dps value of the 2pc set bonus based on the strength of your Ssting. =)

Yes, Zeherah’s on-line spreadsheet is a great tool and I reference it frequently for guidance on gear upgrades.
So because of that I’m at a significant indecision in terms of upgrading gear. Do I go with buying two Windrunner pieces (shoulders and hands) or do I get the Pauldrons of the Devourer which are very nice shoulders but do not contribute to the set bonus.
The spreadsheet indicates a larger DPS gain from the 2 piece set, but if I take out the calculated DPS increase, the Pauldrons are a better choice. Relying on a chance for extra damage doesn’t sit well with me. But I also love the synergy between the 2 piece t9 and t8 2 piece bonuses.

SO I did finally get my 232 gloves and ran into a VOA with some guildies PUG-recruiting and did 4.7 on Koralon. Probably my highest 10 man DPS so far. I didn’t get a chance to check my finite details for just that fight, as we moved quickly to Em and then Arch. but the time we finished Koralon had just rolled off the bottom, but I was showing roughly 52% crit on my serpent sting, averaging around 1100 per tick! woot! Can’t wait to see after 3.2.

, any suggestions with the best 2 pieces of tier 9 ? I noticed the shoulders look good as its always hard to find them and only 30 emblems bonus what other piece is everyone getting ?. I would like to keep my chest and helm 8.5 for now, so is it gloves or legs people are getting as i have the conquest gear already.
In your case I’d go for the gloves and pants then. The 245 shoulders you can buy with trinkets are super good, so you don’t want your T9 slot there.

Yeah he did but maybe he has realised that your better off to get the tier else where ? but im not sure. I all ready have the 8.5 helm and chest plus all the conquest gear ( gloves, legs, belt, etc ) so i have just been collecting triumph emblems as you need 2 pieces of windrunner gear for the set bonus its just a case of working out which will give the better stats . Im sure i read some where the Devourer shoulders are best in slot so maybe thats why hes say legs and gloves . But wont the 4 peice set bonus be better again which means you will have only 1 item that is not in the windruuner set which looks like its the shoulders if i get Frosts drift right .
I took the shoulders for this reason: I have T8.5 helm and chest. Unfortunately the gloves were a very small upgrade (aside from set bonus) and the shoulders were a big upgrade. So short term the best dps move to make as my raid works on TotC (heroic mode coming up soon after all).
However, longterm I’m going to want to get the gloves and get the ilvl 245 shoulders, which are awesome. Getting badges isn’t a problem (already got the 2 T9 and the ring) so I went with the short big upgrade route in hopes of getting the 9.5 token before I buy the gloves too
For other people I recommend planning a bit better than I did and don’t get the shoulders because the other shoulders are so great.
Thanks Frost for your honest opinion I did check you out on wow heroes the other day looks like i have already been treading in your foot steps as my gear is very simular to yours, you just got some extra nice upgrades
which im working on . Dam looking to heroic already we still have not cleared the 1st 3 guys get half way then the worms tend to get every one people cant seem to understand to remove the debuff from the venon you need to stand in the other ones fire breath while the tanks are swapping so there debuff does not get to big. Is that to hard to understand but people still wipe lol. 
Thanks for the outline of your thought process Frost, it was very helpful. I’ve been torn over what to go with and I decided on my first purchase as the Pauldrons of the Devourer. I need 50 more badges and I can get the hands and legs, so in about a month or less I’ll have the 2 piece T9 and 8.5 and the better shoulder options.
Not like I won’t still be playing in a month so I opted for the longer-term solution rather than the instant gratifcation! Which was very against my normal procedure…..
Just a thought when i looked last night if you can get your hands on a trophy the 245 set piece has the same stats as the triumph vendors and also has the tier set bonus which would be better then the devourer as it comes with set bonus. Does anyone know if you can get a set bonus by mixing the tier 9 trpohy and non trophy pieces, i would say it does not work which would mean 2 trophys would be needed but then again its 245 gear it would be worth waiting .
Frades, Yes you can mix and match different levels of Windrunner gear to get the bonus.

Have only just discovered this site and thought you might be able to answer this for me. I was in a 5-man H, the other day, and I saw my seprent sting deliver a 5,000 crit. It had a (2++) after it. I want to know if you can tell me what that means. I usually see around 1400-1600 crits for my SS.
