Arust and I just got back from backpacking, and happily we broke our curse. For the first time this year we did not get rained on! (Though I did accidentally mistake the vodka nalgene for water – so I mixed in the gatorade packet and then took some big chugs – then spewed it out onto the fire, causing a a massive fireball).
As usual, much WoW talk happened in the north woods, but mostly I was just excited for Sunday. You see, on Sunday we’d leave the trail, drive back to civilization, and I would promptly do the daily heroic and get two badges of triumph. Then I would have 60 badges, enough to go buy the T9 hands and shoulders and get the awesome two-piece set bonus that would turn me into a Warlock!
So of course we got back, I hunted down Hrist, did the daily, and went to Icecrown to buy my loot.
And alas.
Turns out the shoulders have a bunch of hit on them, and of course I’m already hit-capped. No, clearly the best thing for me to do is to wait until I have another 20 badges to get the pants and the gloves instead, and get the 2-piece bonus that way. I can get the non-set shoulders for triumph badges, which is a much better upgrade path. Or wait until I upgrade somethhing away from hit. So… another week before I turn into a warlock.
I’m a sad dwarf.

There was actually an outhouse near our campsite, and as Arust went to break it in I was suddenly reminded of the Grizzly Hills.
Oh God, rofl. That sounds like me and Dan down to a tee :p “lovely trip dear but I need to get my tier 9!” I also see what you mean about the outhouse xD
i got the shoulders too, now im sitting with a hit rating in the low three hundred, not good. and that was after i regemmed everything i was wearing. on a side note though, broke 4500 dps in os10 yestesrday.
I don’t get the warlock comment. Are we talking because of the critting dots or am I missing something?
@chimy i’m guessing it would have something to do with the dot bonus
I’ve never played a warlock. The thought of leveling one from ’1′ makes me a little queasy. lol.
i have a demo lock at 51, then i gave up
Yes, once our serpent stings can crit we’ll be like a warlock. It will suddenly become so important to put serpent sting on every target because of the awesome dps it provides — especially nice with the T8.5 2-piece set bonus.
In fact in some situations (large heath mobs) you may even want to dot everyone before aoeing.
i always open withn serp sting anyway so this bonus means a lot to me, just aneed to get that second emblem of triumph (30x)piece. getting the second emblem of conquest (58x) piece tonight (chest to go with helm) then i will have both bonuses
I’d be really interested to find out what your single target increases are, with the critting SS bonus.
i’ll see what i can come up with when i get the pieces
you guys LARP up there dont you? yeah i know youre up there with foam swords casting magic missle (or arcane shot in this case)
i cant wait for the 2 piece bonus myself. i dont care for the 4 piece but im not too pet centric either. the stats on the gear is way better tho, and 3 pairs of t9 to mix and match to. neato, i guess.
Am I missing something? My Dalaran triumph vendor doesn’t have t9 pieces.
The Dal vendor has only the non set stuff. There are also a bunch of different Triumph vendors in the Tourney Grounds — on the platform leading into the raid entrance. Each vendor has different stuff. You get the T9 set pieces there (and T9.5, but those require a drop as well as emblems)
Well heck. That’s good news. Thanks.
That outhouse does remind me of Grizzly Hills thats so funny, i didnt think the tier 9 set looked to good i liked the stats on the 8.5 better but then i was not really paying attention to the set bonuses might have to take another look
, or mix 2 pieces of each set as it seems thats what most people are doing.
Will this set bonus end the competition among Survival hunter glyphs (SS, Hawk, SrS) in Glyph of Serpent Sting’s favor?
