How to Hunter Solo Sulfuron the Harbinger in Molten Core

Sulfuron the Harbinger was always my guild’s bane back in vanilla days. No matter how long we had MC on farm, chain-pulling, every now and then we’d lose our mojo and wipe on him four times in a row, mostly due to problems with pulling the priests out of range of the other healers.

So it felt nice to go back and dish out a little hunter vengeance.

How to Solo Sulfuron the Harbinger

Talents: Max Health Extreme Solo Build
Pet: Turtle
Pet Talents: Extreme Solo Pet Build
Gear: 2 pieces of T5 (see full Extreme Hunter Solo Gear article)

Sulfuron has 4 adds – they’re all priests who heal him and each other. There is no way to burn through their heals. Instead, you just have to tank them all until they run out of mana – once out of mana they die off pretty quickly.

It should be noted that the landing in the back of the room can cause some LoS problems, and you may want to pull the priests down off the ledge first.

With 2-pieces of T5 gear, you should have plenty of pet healing to keep your pet up, with shell shield to use in emergencies. I kept Viper Sting up on one of the priests – not that the mana drain adds up to much, but the mana regen lets you stay in Hawk, which lets you heal your pet more (because of more damage).

Sulfuron himself will occasionally blast you with a ranged attack. It is possible to out-range this attack and not take the damage – but I found the damage to be sufficiently minimal that I didn’t worry about it.

Once you have the priests down sick your pet on Sulfuron himself. Sulfuron will keep trying to get to range to attack your pet, which will necesitate some moving around on your part. Eventually your pet will corner him and you can blast him down!

oh… the glory days of letting you die on the pull, and then taunting…

    those were such good days…

Commie Tank isn’t joking about that either. Whenever we were on our Sulfuron failmode, inevitably I’d be assigned to pull one of the adds to him (this was before misdirection). So on the call I’d shoot from max range and run to CommieTank, then run past him, then farther past, then the add would kill me with one shot.

    Then he’d taunt it.

Jeez Frost. You apparently suffered greatly with this boss. If that pull/taunt thing happened to me….I would blow my brains out lmao

Despite the smile that watching you die (over and over) brings to my face… I’d like to say, it honestly wasn’t intentional. And I often (not always) felt bad about it as it happened.

Yeah I can’t believe how many times we screwed that fight up. How many times I had to evasion tank the first add because the tank died on the pull. Ahh the good ol’ days.

But… you are using a bear. Not a turtle :(
    “Pet: Turtle”
Though, your focus frame… Shows the head of the turtle?
    Hmm, what? >.<
