Ah, Magmadar, the big loveable puppy. Never a hard boss even in vanilla days, but our very first (and at one time only) use for Tranquilizing Shot!

Mags is a nice easy hunter solo.

How to Hunter Solo Magmadar

Talents: Max Health Extreme Solo Build
Pet: Any Tenacity
Pet Talents: Extreme Solo Pet Build
Gear: 2 pieces of T5 (see full Extreme Hunter Solo Gear article)

Magmadar is pretty straight foward. With Mend Pet and 2 pieces of T5 gear, healing is no problem. He has a lot of health, so it’s a long drawn-out fight, but never terribly dangerous or risky.

Magmadar has three main abilities.

  1. He frenzies every now and then. You can get rid of it with Tranquilizing Shot. However, your pet should be just fine even if you don’t dispell it.
  2. He spits fire at you and the pet, which burns in place. If he spits at you, just walk out of it. If it’s on the pet, just ignore it. Your pet will be fine.
  3. He fears you and your pet. You run both run around in circles for a while. No biggie.

Beacuse of Magmadar’s fear, the fight will move around a lot, but other than taking a lot of time, there’s no real difficulty in putting this boss under your soloing belt!

I was wondering if you had any advice on how to do the packs of mobs before this boss? I have been having unbelievable trouble with them.

  2. Frostheim says:

Sure, in fact I anticipated that question. Here’s a video on the corehound packs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS_tAfzxvhY

You need to make sure you have 2 ranks of imporved mend pet and they all have to die within a few seconds of eachother.

Thanks a lot man! I plan on attempting my full run as soon as I get my second piece of T5 gear.

Hey, love these vids, and the post on WoW.com.

I’ve noticed that when I dispel his enrage, it acts like a taunt. And he hits HARD. so maybe it’s best just to not remove the enrage at all.
