With Emblems of Conquest now dropping from every heroic, Hrist and I formed up an elite heroic running squad last night to start cashing in. Suffice to say we weren’t the only people with that idea, and we saw a whole lot of this last night:

w-instances

Fortnately we eventually got in to any given instance, it just took a while.

Our first stop was the heroic version of the new Trial of the Champion 5-man. I hated the jousting, and the long breaks for commentary, but otherwise it was nice. The thing that surprised me was the loot.

I don’t know if it was just the quality of our group, but the instance felt very easy — we pretty much just pulverized our way through it double time. And the loot dropping there was ilvl 219 loot — equivalent to Ulduar 10-man! I’m thinking this will be the new place to bring new level 80s to gear them up.

We went on to blast our way through Utgarde Keep, Utgarde Pinnacle, Nexus, and Violet Hold heroics to collect something like 16 emblems of conquest and 2 emblems of triumph. We also picked up a handfull of heroic achievements for doing strange things. Now I just need 33 more emblems for my next purchase. Sigh.

In Other News

The bug where Blizz accidentally gave Survival an extra talent point (for a total of 72) has been fixed. However, many reports say that that Lock & Load is proccing far more often than before, even with the new cooldown attached. So there might be a little extra bit of lovin’ in the patch for SV after all!

Well, I dont think that the heroic ToC 5 will be the place for gearing up fresh 80 – or at most 2 of the group, depending on qualities of the rest. The reason is amount of damage in Black Knight phase 3, which is simply unhealable by fresh 80 healer. Normal version is a different story, because you can do it how many times you want per day :)

  2. Vael says:

Yeah, our well geared healer had this to say after we ran it on Tuesday, “AAAAAAAAAAGGGHHH.” That was magnified with some hellish lag.
I like it tho, nice change, and since I was never blessed with Black Ice, I look forward to the new polearm out of there.

  3. Nomadigin says:

After running a few instances I have to agree with the reports on LnL proc’ing a lot more. They may have added an internal CD but I think they probably also increased the proc chance just so LnL is a more regular mechanic than random chance during any given fight.

  4. nascair says:

@Vael I found that in a guild run and a pug the healer was able to heal it fine, when u dont stand in the green stuff

  5. Yorigrim says:

There are awesome staves and polearms in uld :)

  6. Vael says:

Its not the green stuff that’ll kill ya (altho it will beat you up significantly). Its the Marked For Death.
    Ouch.

  7. heddamazra says:

we ran h toc last night with no issues. pulled a chest piece and a gun nout of it, on phone so no links. we ran reg after with a crappy pug and the healer couldnt keep up. locknload is proc’ing a LOT in my experience since patch

  8. heddamazra says:

although im sure the armoury would be updated if you checked to see the pieces. forgive my gear, im a new eighty. heddamazra, the scryers realm

  9. Purp says:

Man I was worried about this, I like MM so much I don’t wanna switch back to boring SV >.>
I have noticed however, that as ugly as the new armor is… it has RIDICULOUS stats! And most, if not all, of the new equips have ArP…. premium MM stat :D (A bucketload of agility as well)

  10. Diaxxion says:

L&L proc’s often. It does help SV DPS. Although I’ve yet to see a well geared, ArP, MM hunter beat my SV AGI DPS output, (sorry, bit off topic), I really had no significant issues ending up at the top of the DPS and damage meters in TOC or Ulduar this week.

  11. Chimy says:

Suppose it would be easy for a dude with 5k dps. We got owneddddddddddd. What did you do for strategy against the 350k ghost that the cleric summons?

  12. Frostheim says:

Um, strategy? We used the classic “Get her!”

We just pew pewed and the ghost died fast. Similar strategy for the rest of the place. See bad guy, unload on it, it dies within a few rotations, move on to the next. Oh, and Hrist used hate.

  13. Keitosalmon says:

I’ve H ToC everyday since patch, and overall like it. Hate jousting but otherwise it’s fun. Haven’t had the fortune to get Paletress yet, keep getting Eadric. I think everyone on my server has lost their mind for emblems and are running heroics like lunatics (myself included, ran 8 today).

On a side note, has anyone seen the WoW.com article about the BRK in-game tribute?
Here’s the link (totally suits him and smells faintly of raspberries) http://www.wow.com/2009/08/06/bigredkitty-gets-his-own-gun-in-azeroth/

  14. heddamazra says:

we ran H ToC last night and got completely owned. i don’t know what happened, besides the fact it was a horrible pug. our tank apparently was so squishy our healer couldn’t keep up, and the healer was one of my usual healers…
i was topping the dps chart at my usual 2500k dps and next closest was the wife at 1700, don’t know why people think they can do heroics at less than that. heh.
needless to say, we never made it to the black night in that group
ran reg a few times though, easy peasy.

  15. quivering says:

i know the brk tribute isnt the topic, but i must say that when i found out it was ally only, my heart broke. i know there must be a sense of alliance pride for having such an iconic figure, i concede that point, but when you get to the heart of the matter, its not an alliance horde thing. both factions sat at his feet and learned. grats on being able to obtain such a wonderful item. ill just sulk over here with the generic goblin fart gun or whatever they gave horde lol

oh well, off to farm emblems

  16. Malania says:

Heroic mode is really punishing on the healer. Normal mode is lolwutitsdone? I went there the first time the other night to heal, while spectacuarly drunk I might add at 5am. You can faceroll through normal and then we tried heroic. Difficulty ramps up and really needs both the tank (more so) and healer to keep on their toes. Not the best time to do it for me it seems.

  17. Malania says:

As far as emblem farming goes I had everything I wanted from Conquest emblems for my Hunter (bought the Hat and neck and won the Chest in an Uld 25). It’s really a matter of farming for my priest now but I’m really bored of Wrath heroics, so that seems like too much effort after spending all the time raiding with him in my spare time off my Hunter to gear him decently. It never ends really.
