10 man raid night, and boy was it nice to finally get a new boss down – the Beasts of Northrend have officially fallen. It took us 2 hours and 40 minutes of wiping. And our recovery times were pretty darned good too, so that was a lot of wipes.
In our classic 10-man raid fashion, we started off well enough, then made a bunch of backward progress wiping on the first boss, then back to the second, a peek at the third, then wiping on the first again. Rinse and repeat. A lot.
It had the distinction of being our first raid that had the rallying cry of WWQD, which I won’t be surprised to see more of. And of course our Cheerleader was there with cunning analysis of wipes.

It’s strange, but I got a lot more enjoyment out of wiping for nearly three hours on a progression boss than I do from killing 5 or 6 bosses in Ulduar. I feel like I’m making progress, which I haven’t felt in a while. Our 10-man was way behind on Ulduar, due largely to many cancelled raids from lack of attendance.
Hrist and I recently had a long discussion about the direction of our 10-man group, and we agreed that we wanted to defeat the Lich King himself – this has now become our stated goal. And for that to be possible, we have to be doing the current stuff to get geared up for Icecrown Citadel!
So after finally downing the Yeti (and having to DE one of the drops) we decided we’d take a quick look at the next guy, who we plan to defeat Thursday night.

Can’t wait for the next raid — and it’s been a while since I’ve actually been excited about raiding. Tell the Lich King that we’re coming!

Actually I’m not to enthusiastic about the new raid. Seems rather simple compared to Ulduar. Granted we’ve only done the first 2 bosses as well and from the way my guild just crashed last night with half the raiders quitting its as far as I’ll see for a while.
Congratulations man its definitely one of the longer and harder fights. Just yesterday My guild on the Anvilmar server got the Upper Back Pain achievement on both 10 and 25, i think it was server first for 25 man and it wasn’t easy, those snobolds are a pain especially when they land on healers. Anyways congrats again and keep up the great work with the blog it’s helped me a lot
Thanks again

GRATS GUYS!!!
we cant get past the Faction Champions encounter. *sigh*
my guys n gals including myself. have a hard time with the concept.
going in for another 3 hour session to see if we can get at least 3 of them down.
Yes.. they have us on “farm status”. they will start bringing in alts to run against us soon I feel..
Gratz!
just found this site last week……..had a trial run last night trying to get into a new guild…..
took some good….er Great! advice from here, tweaked my SV and wolf spec, downed the first 2 bosses in 25 man, was top 3 on the meters – played well got my /ginvite!!
what a fun hunter fight eh?
thanks Gentlemen, great site!
/salute
WWQD? what is that?
Anon, see yesterday’s blog post, “My New Hero.”
Grats Frost, and let us know if you figure out how to beat the 3rd boss(es), the 6-v-10 PvP style fight. We nearly one-shotted the first two bosses yesterday, then made absolutely no progress on #3 in about an hour’s worth of wipes. Dudes are freaking annoying.
I hate it when you show the Dps recount
I would LOVE to crack 3K …but 4.2 !!! wow
What fight is that meter for? I only ask because if you add up the damage done it doesn’t add up to all night’s progress.
Yeah, when we jumped into the daily right afterward I reflexiviely hit “yes” to resetting recount, so I didn’t get an overall screenshot. I believe that shot was from our final kill though.
Nice numbers, tho!
We got the first 2 encounters down in 10-man last night (I say “we” as it is my first foray into a semi-serious raiding guild. Only my 3rd guild in 4 1/2 years, so I hope it turns out well.). About half the raid had done the dungeon before, the other half, myself included, had not. We one-shotted both the Northrend beasties and Lord Jaraxxus, but our server had MAJOR issues last night, and kept dc’ing everyone and either sending them to Dalaran or into the nothingness of dead space. After 5 of those, we decided to call it…but I am *so* excited to try those Hordies on for size!
Grats frost. We tried a 25man last night and we kept getting reset or dc’d several times. Half the raid who had pvp gear would come back with it all on where they weren’t wearing it in the first place, plus several other weird issues. My guild has beaten everything but the new boss (twins) we were all really looking forward to getting to see them but after several dc’s and cursing blizz we moved it to ulduar where we finally were able to defeat Flame with all towers left up. was a good achievement for all of us, and spirits for once were high even tho most of us were still running with low fp , myself at 2 fps and for most the time didn’t know if i was shooting or what was going on. It has been frustrating for everyone during the summer as lack of attendance has been a major issue. Hopefully we can try TOC again tonight… if people decide to show up
Got through the faction champions last night for the first time, I so badly hate pvp rules for pve encounters. Next fight felt much easier and downed it too, but i think faction champions is going to be a royal pita every week. Barely any of our 10 man pvps ever(and none seriously) so there were things like people looking up diminishing return rules during wipe recovery.
Yeah Faction Champions are a pain, it took my 25man 3 hours to get it, killing the healers is the hard part, after that its a walk in the park, GL thursday!
That’s gotta be a real pain with people even under 3k dps, great job guys
Yeah congrats guys , our guild tried it last week managed to get half way through the 2nd bosses but kept wiping its definitely a hard instance so we never got to the 3rd boss. We just went in for a quick look and had 1 hour to spare before ulduar but i do think ulduar is alot easier then the new instance from what i have seen so far so it must of felt good downing the bosses.
Nice job guys
I’ve been PUGing it on 10man and have tried on 25m but when a lot of people dont know what they are doing then its a wipe
