10-man raid night last night.
For whatever reason, Cheerleader was in town (she lives an hour or two out of town) so rather than be late to the raid, she came over to my place to raid in the awesome Geek House, and I’m sure she regrets that by now. Shortly before the raid started, the two of us stepped out the side door for a pre-raid smoke. We were chatting about WoW – I think I was telling her how I should be driving her siege engine (only it didn’t sound so dirty at the time).
Then the neighbor lifted up the blinds to open his window. No doubt it was stuffy inside and he wanted to let some air through. Alas he was also totally, completely buck nekkid at the time, revealed in the window from ribs down, facing front.
And on that note the raid started.
Hirst, it should be noted, has a history of mistaking other dwarves for me. He once revealed that back in the early days of wrath he mailed me a ton of metals to help me level my engineering. Only he mailed them to “Frost” instead of “Frostheim.” He mailed the guy back explaining his mistake, but didn’t get the mats returned. Last night, something similar.

The raid started well enough with an easy FL takedown despite Cheerleader trying to suicide our siege engine with her crazy driving straight into the frost beams. Just before XT, I learn that Hrist had ninja-demoted me.

We sailed through XT with some of our best dps yet — well on our way to getting the uber fastkill on XT, which is nice. Arust, badass mage, and I were nice and efficient on clearing out the adds, all aoeing close to the same time, so that we wasted less boss time than usual on them.
Then out of the blue we wiped on Kologarn – a super easy boss long on farm for us. Just when it looked like it was going to be a good night, it started looking instead like it was going to be one of those nights that our 10-man is notorious for.

We quickly followed this up by an insanity of wiping on Auriaya. Every pull someone died. Sometimes the tank. Sometimes a healer. Sometimes me. Nothing consistent, mind you. Sometimes it seemed like we recovered from the bad pull, then it all fell apart after a minute or two. We wiped and wiped. We repaired. Then we kept on wiping and wiping.
Finally we managed to get our game together and pulled through, but by then we had spent over an hour on a farm boss, and were approaching our quit time. So we wandered back to Razorscale to get one final kill in before calling it a night.
So a mixed evening, at best. The worst thing about early wiping for an hour is the way it absolutely slaughters the poor overall dps meter.
However being able to chat with Cheerleader while playing was fun.

I just dont get our flow.. you know what i mean? I tell you .. it has something to do with the planets aligning and stuff like that!
It was quite a shock to see Frost’s neighbor! I spent the rest of the time facing the other way … ensuring that i would not be subject to another “flash”
I had a great time over at the geek house! And i promise not to drive into laser beams any more! (if i can help it:P)
So… am I the only person who plays WoW and doesn’t smoke?
Nope i don’t smoke either
. Anyway i just had a quick completely off topic question… I got my giant’s bane last night, and i was about to buy a heartseeker scope when i thought to myself is this really the best scope? So i as just wondering if any theorycrafting had been done on each of the scopes? Mainly between Diamond-cut Refractor Scope(+15 dmg) and Heartseeker(+40 crit rating), but others would be interesting to look at as well. Thanks love the blog.

I liked the bit about confusing other dwarves for Frostheim. My guild’s problem is confusing gnomes for repair-bots. It never fails, someone lays down a repair-bot and we all start clicking on our little gnome mage saying “It doesn’t work!”.
Schnizz made me think.. I’m not haste capped for my steady shot so I figured a Sun scope would get me a better overall DPS increase as opposed to the Heartseeker.
Did I make a boo boo?
Schnizz Crtical bonus all the way so buy the heatseeker scope if thats the critical been so long i can’t remember which one was critical lol. Yeah thats the beauty of raiding Frost if the group cant pull it together some nights will be worse than others also it gets harder when your constantly trying out new players from the guild as we like to give every one the oppertunity to take part in raiding so they can try and learn whats happening early in the piece. Better keep the streaker quiet or you will have all the girls coming to your place lol.
We have nights like that. Usually its on Thorim 25. We spend a good hour or so wiping on him before we kill him. However last night we 2 shotted him and Mimiron before spending a good 5-6 wipes on General Vezax instead of 2 shotting him. You have to love random farm bosses.
