10-man raid night. Last week we were working on the 8-man naxx achievement and we cleared everything up to Kel’Thuzad. So this week the goal is to just burn through the stuff and get to Kel’Thuzad to finish up our 8-man achievement.
Things start off well. More than well, actually. We blasted through plague wing, aided by one of our healers who kindly respecced to Boomkin for a faster run (don’t need 3 healers for anything but 4H). We made record time on Heigan and Loatheb. Hell, Heigan has only one lava dance phase before we slaughtered him.
Construct had one unfortunate wipe on trash (well, I FD’d out of it) and then on to Patchwerk, where we finally had no one DC and picked up the Make Quick Werk of Him achievement for downing Patch in 3 minutes or less.
After that, things got hairy. Drunk on our own competence, we started with the silly wipes on trash mobs. I think the record was three different wipes on the one room of trash between Gluth and Thaddius. We’d charge out, two Vigilant Shades would materialize, the geist packs would run by, then people would start to die. Being badass that night, I did a fair bit of tanking myself, using Deterrance followed by Disengage to take down one of the mobs before darting around the corner and hitting FD.
Hrist was not pleased:

After a few wipes to the trash (and several wipes on various other trash throughout construct) a healer requested a repair bot. I suppose in hindsight I could have been kinder:

(We were comparing repair bills when I finally did drop the repair bot. I think the highest was 75, with several others in that region. I was at 18g. Sometimes it pays to be a hunter.)
Eventually we cleared everything up to the 4 Horsemen, which we left to take down tonight, when we’ll bring three healers. So we ended up with success, just not the pretty kind of success that Hrist had been dreaming of.

Now honestly, I think Hirst was on great form there… I love the last smirk comment WTG mate

This blog is cool, even us lonely europen hunters who stray in like unwanted mongrels love the warmth and humour on here…
Nothin quite like wiping on trash to bring your self esteem right up the top…
*giggles nervously* Where can I get my own Angry Hirst?
I dream of one day having my own hate filled Tank again, things get done quicker, and the gods help you if you misspull
(just smile and nod and call yourself a noob cake)
*ahem* It only happened one time with me
Great Post as always Frost!
How about an emo guild master? I’m WTGRO one of those. Well, maybe just the emo part.
WTGRO = willing to get rid of
If that “just a sec” hunter blob was Heedlife, he *was* “paying his dues.” …chores! His dad’s a right bastard.
We use a 2 healer strategy for 4H in 10 man, ask Dragon about it if you want details. In fact, even when we have more than 2 we still do it that way now so people don’t get confused
Well, this week we ran a 4 healer strat – using a Holydin and a Holy priest as the ranged tanks, and 2 more healers running with the melee groups. But that was just because we brought 2 Holydins to soak up all the healing plate that drops
But the general idea is that everyone switches sides together and the bosses stay in place, instead of having the tanks perform a boss swap. Melee, healers, and ranged tanks all change sides together, with 1 healer per side, standing between the melee and the ranged tank. It works really well once everyone knows what they are doing.
Yea…we know it CAN be done with 2 healers and know the general idea of it…there are just…other….reasons we don’t do it.
Oh, right, you are stuck with an elf tank. Get a dwarf and everything will fall into place!
