So, there I was chilling in that stink pit of a heat furnace you stunties call home, sipping some Haterade with my good “pal” Frostheim when I noticed his beard wasn’t as soaked with ale as it is normally. This usually means he’s upset about something and while I usually can’t be bothered to get to the bottom of his tear filled Woe Is Me stein, he was annoyed enough last night not to accompany me on our semi-weekly jaunt to put down less evil things than us in the name of some misplaced justice. This angered me because I like knowing gods of death and destruction are in my wake, putting things down in a timely fashion so my face takes less of a beating each week. So for purely selfish reasons I asked him what the dealio was.
He told me about this magazine he had been publishing that seemed to traverse time and space or some nonsense and reach alternate realities of Azeroth, where he taught people how to be effective hunters. This seemed a little odd to me as all the people who roll with us are good at huntering already…who cares about these other fake hunters who aren’t on the real Azeroth? Then he started going off on some rant about how dwarves stick together and support their own and blah blah blah! Anyway, he pushed this HUGE pile of “fan mail” he had been getting for quite some time now and I have to admit I was amused that any dwarf could pull such a large following (aside from their King I guess, since I supposed they have no choice). I flipped through a few of them and noticed a common theme.

You are wrong. I tried out your path of the survivalist and I am not skilled enough to play it right so you must not know what you are talking about.

Hey dumbass,
You promised 4 issues ago to tell us what knacks to learn in regards to our various abilities. Here we are 6 issues later and you have not even hinted that you are going to take care of this. I cannot afford to just experiment on my own and am too lazy to help you out or learn to play well by myself. Give me this strats NOW so I can fulfill my life long dream of moving to Europe and join up with Ensidia. They are eagerly awaiting my relocation!

Anyway, I could quickly see what his problem was and I needed him to get over it so I cut to the chase. I told him that a popular Elven belief is that the “Needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few” and that he needs to stop being so damn selfish and do whatever it takes to get those updates/missing guides done IMMEDIATELY! Seeing that my work was done, I stood up to leave…but not before reminding him that I knew where he kept Nibbles and if he wasn’t with me the night after next he’d be finding himself a new oversized raptor.
As I turned to walk out some human mage we roll with whose name I can’t be bothered to remember had walked up during my life lesson and pointed out to me that if Frost is spending all this time writing his “Intratemporal Fanzine” how can he be stomping out mechanical dwarves and dragons and discover the mysteries his people really care about.
Begrudgingly, I had to admit Captain Waterfountain had a point so I quickly changed my stance. The needs of ME outweigh the needs of you.
Frost is mine. Back off.
Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go and crush the happiness out of a certain paladin I know.
P.S. It’s HRIST you illiterate morons. H-R-I-S-T. Not Hirst and definitely not Hurst. You know, like your WRIST? Only replacing the W with an H? Good, I am glad we had this talk. It always amazes me how many people bitch and whine when someone like Frostheim does not fulfill their (the poster’s, not Frostheim) shallow and selfish needs. I for one appreciate Frostheim’s work and all the help given to the hunter community.
Even if he can’t see the top of a table made for a properly proportioned elf. (But I always keep a booster seat around for my height challenged Dwarf friends, I am good that way.)
Keep up the good work and don’t let the griefers get you down.
Always keep in mind that nowadays, more and more people with mental health diseases are released instead of being institutionalized… You can draw your own conclusions

Haha. I’m at work. It’s totally not my style, and I’ve never done anything like it except on the blog about the spam filter where I said ‘First’. But I thought to myself; “Self, know what would be annoying? Deliberately being a pain in the ass and spelling it Hurst. Theres no way someone hasn’t already pulled it”.
Sure enough, here we are.
But seriously; no matter where you are in life, there will always be someone there to give you crap about something Frost. It’s going to be your schoolchums, coworkers, in-laws, etc. And the problem with The Internet is a total lack of accountability.
I used to do kids’ homework in grade school. Not because I was bullied, but because I exchanged a service for things like pudding, sandwiches, or first shot at the wall to play Red Butt, if anyone has ever played that.
If someone said to me “Hey, do my work for me you lazy nubzor”. I’d punch them right along the bridge of the nose.
But this is The Internet, and we don’t have accountability. if there was, we’d have no need for Horde or Night Elves.

OK..so where’s the update?
Dont let the idoits get you down your posts are great and i have found this site very interesting with a great deal of knowledge only been playing for about 5 months and only found your site a few days ago but i have to say i love it. Some people just have no appreciation for the work you guys do for us but i would recommend this site to any hunter. If there not good enough to play properly or use your guides well then they do not deserve your attention and let them fend for themselves and then see how they go lol. They should be practicing instead of complaining by the sounds of things.

I went and paid some dues today, running tests on a few trinkets to determine which I should be using. The first of quite a few such tests I have planned, including rotation tweaks. I don’t haterize Frost or anything, quite the opposite in fact, but somehow I still felt shamed that I didn’t do enough of the legwork myself on my current Hunter-ly awesomeness.
And if you just narrowed the elf-hate to Night Elves, I’d be totally cool. They look funny. Smell bad too. But Blood Elves are teh hawt fer realz!

what are all these hunters gonna do now? were gonna end up running around with 23/12/35 builds and scatter shot glyphs. its gonna be madness. think of the children, man, the children!
I am strangely inspired by this Hrist persons appraoch to tanking and the group dynamic. I have to be rude frequently to friends in my raid groups to get them to do what they need to do and have on occaision felt bad about it afterwards. No longer.
Warrior tanks have to work too damm hard to put up with less than stellar support. I have been tanking more on my DK lately because AOE tanking is easier on him and group screw ups are less likely to cause wipes, but no longer. Warrior tanks FTW..
I leveled all the way to 80 as MM. Back then I didn’t know a thing about the top dps spec. I was just concerned with me being able to control my damage, and MM gave me the most number of shots. I dual specced for SV to do heroics and raid, and WHU is solely responsible for me topping DPS meters over 90% of the time.
Even though I was not familiar with survival, the shot rotation was REALLY easy to get used to. Even the LnL proccing wasn’t complicated as few people make it out to be. Hell Frost did all the work for you…just gotta follow directions here. MM has way more complicated shot rotation/priority. I love frost’s “whack a mole” analogy, because it feels exactly like that. With MM i remember not being able to look at the thing/boss/trash I was attacking, ever, because I was paying attention to my cool downs so much. With the SV rotation I can actually see the thing I’m killing!
When I glance over the DPS meters and I see the shiny 3k+ numbers nowadays after downing a boss I think of you guys here at WHU. Don’t let the ungrateful parasites ever get to you Frost.
P.S.: I know this is an old post, but I was quiet furious when I read through it hence I HAD to write something!

Most of us are just jealous of Frostheim. Few of us get to play with tanks that know what they are doing, so it is hard to learn to ride the curve. May the blessings of stone rain on us so that there are others that can even come close.
