10 man raid night. We decided to just bum rush all of Naxx. Got a one night clear, but missed most of the achievements. Partially this was due to having a couple newer raiders who just weren’t yet up to speed.
But, to quote Hrist:
We missed the Make Quick Werk of Him achievement by 13 seconds.
I blame Frost. Clearly he can pump out a little more DPS.
Normally I would make a snarky comment about the difference between by dps and the dps of number two on the charts. I was pulling a good 4100 dps on Patch afterall. I was doing good overall on the charts, as this Frostheim-eye view shows:
But then I remembered… the second – the instant I left Naxx that night I realized that I had been wearing my pvp trinket for the entire instance, rather than my badass Fury of the Five Flights. And as I thought about it… over 3 minutes of Patchwerk… well, it’s just possible that I could have shaved 13 seconds off our time. Not likely from one trinket alone but… I mean, Arust wasn’t even gimping his dps with Gnolldeath last night, and there I was, failing the raid 
This was serious enough that I had to bump this issue upstairs to Frostheim corporate, who released this statement for Hrist:
On behalf of team Frostheim, we apologize for causing your raid to miss the Patchwerk achievement.
We are launching an investigative committee to determine where the dps deficiencies lie, and will work strenuously to leverage all strategic character customization options to make forward progress on this very important issue. I can assure you that all members of team Frostheim take dps concerns very seriously.
Our initial investigation suggests that some of the dps failure may be due in part to wearing the pvp trinket instead of the Fury of the Five Flights trinket. The pvp trinket is not included on the approved trinket list for the DPS Process, and this incorrect trinket was in fact worn throughout all of Naxx last night. We are implementing better quality control measures to prevent such a lapse in the future.
Thank you for using team Frostheim for your dps needs. We hope to resolve this issue to your satisfaction so that you can enjoy more quality Frostheim dps in the near future.
Next time, Patchwerk is going down in under 3 minutes, damnit.
I have to admit that I was suprised that my dps was only in the 2600dps range. upon looking at the expanded recount I think I see why. I got unlucky in the crits. normally my crit is right around 50%ish, but this time I only had 42% crit.
How can only 8% crit change that? well, you have to remember that mage damage is almost always driven by crits. not only is the crit doing a rediculous amount more in damage, it also procs another debuff called ignite that does another 40% of the crit damage over a few seconds, thus increasing awesomely the amount of damage.
I still remember recently Frost looking over my shoulder when a 12k crit went off saying “holy crap, did that just say 12k?” and then I explain to him about ignite. makes me giggle sometimes.
Sadly, he still does more damage then I do. Blizzard hates us mages I tell ya.
I feel your pain, Frost… upon continuing a Naxx 25 the other night (starting at Patchwerk) I realized after the fight that since I had just come from Wintergrasp, I had forgotten to replace my ENTIRE PVP gear set with my DPS gear. Dropped me to number 3… now THAT was a pain in my ass. Team Nagatamen will get its act together pronto, but glad to hear even Dwarfs like yourself can occasionally be… erm, human?

We haven’t gotten that achievement yet either, honestly no idea why not. Guess we’re not trying hard enough.

Some people switched in and out. One person was on an illogical alt up to the first boss.
Neven, I don’t play a mage and maybe it’s just the ridiculous people in my guild, but our mages are routinely in the midst of the hunter (and rogue… and warrior.. and DK… and….) DPS throughout all of Naxx 25. Blizzard can’t hate mages all that much.
