Macros are a way that warcraft gives us to string together several different abilities or commands to the click on one button. The right macro at the right time can help you focus more on your task and your surroundings and less on your cooldowns and rows of buttons.
This guide explains the very simple steps of how to make a macro. Other guides on the WHU will give you suggestions of the kinds of macros you should be using: this one will just walk you though how to make a macro in WoW in the first place.
How to Make a Macro:
1. Hit Escape (or click the computer icon) and click on Macros

2. The Macro screen will show all the macros you currently have. Just click on the “New” button on the bottom to create a new macro.

3. Enter a name for your macro on the line, then choose an icon for your macro. Click “Okay”.

4. Click on your icon, and enter the actual text of the macro in the space below. You can now drag this icon to your action bars.

And that’s it! You are now ready to start creating Macros!

one minor thing you missed is that after hitting new and typing in the name of the macro, you have to pick an image for the icon. I know it might be assumed, but you know what they say about assuming… mainly that dwarves are smelly.

Wow neven, there isn’t even a lot of text on this guide, and you still missed the “choose an icon” line
One thing I would add is that if they want to use the default image for the next spell or ability in a /castsequence macro, they want to choose the big red question mark icon (the first one on the list). It’ll change the icon seen to match whatever spell or ability that button will cast next.
This does NOT work with /castrandom
I know this doesnt really relate to the macro topic, but i noticed your actions bar is centered at the bottom of the screen, along with your right actions bar which is centered on the right side. I’v seen friends that have that to, but my action bars are spread across my entire screen. Is there anyway i can get it to be centered like that?
@john095
it’s all in the video setting. That is the look you get with a resolution setting of 1440×900

Also if you’re in “Windowed” mode it looks like this (also found in the video settings located in the login window). It also keeps your game screen from dominating the screen. That way you can have music, vent, internet running in the background and switch quickly between them without “alt-tab’ing” out ( like I used to do before I found it, lol).
