Okay, did a bunch of messing around with the stupid wordpress php files, and I think I got the comments back to normal. Apologies to Mykaele, who likes pink.
Ironically, it was Hrist’s comment that led me in the right direction. While the post didn’t explain how to fix my problem, it let me know approximately where to look. Then I kinda just started changing things here and there to see what would happen. It was scientific mucking though (this is the WHU after all!) Make a change, observe the effect. Revert the change. Make another change, observe the effect. Gradually I came to realize what some of the code did and narrowed in on the problem spot. Then I started guessing.
I’m still not sure exactly what I did, but as long as it seems fine, I’m not touching it. I have a backup of the file before my muddling just in case. So if anyone sees problems with the comments, please let me know and I’ll look into it.
(PS: Why did it have to be Hrist spending five seconds on a google search that led to the solution? Why?)
