Victory!

As some of you know, I have a non gaming roomate. Instead of doing things like slaying foul dragons and pushing back the advance of a civilization-threatening army of undead, she does stuff like knitting.

To each their own I guess.

But every now and then she wanders into the gaming room, usually because she has some question that I’m incapable of answering – maybe about what baby clothes look better, or do I have some kind of unpronounceable spice that she can borrow (and why does she keep asking these thing? The answer is always “no”, “I don’t know”, “I don’t care,” or “boss fight – not now”).

Sometimes when she comes in I explain what I’m doing in WoW, just so she can appreciate how much more important it is than her trivial day-to-day tasks. And then sometimes she doesn’t understand and asks for more clarification, which I’m happy to provide.

And this is what led to her doom.

A couple days ago a friend and I were in the computer room, discussing WoW. I was debating on whether a piece of gear was better for me than another piece of gear. My roomate was there for some reason, impatiently waiting for a gap in the conversation. She probably had a question about matching colors, or Victorian furniture. Then this happened:

Me: “I don’t know, this one has 30 more stamina as well”

Friend: “Yeah, but in raids you don’t really care about stamina.”

Roomate: “But don’t you get more damage with your stamina because of the kind of hunter you are?”

…a horrible silence filled the room…

Then my roomate hit me as hard as she could and said, “Goddamn it! I hate you! You made me learn something about Warcraft!” and she stormed out.

Oh yeah, I’m gonna call that the I WIN button :)

Well, that and a big ol’ bruise. She can hit hard.

That is a great Story dude! Do you think you will be able to convert her to play WoW?

This blog is now my favorite! Thanks dude!

Haha, this made me laugh. Mate, you really should have known that 30 STA gives you 3 AP :) but is not the point. I think You have perfect opportunity to get a zhevra mount!

Perhaps that will teach you to aggro a room-mate with a Strength buff!

Ha!! I have one of those roommates, too. My wife. She thinks the whole MMO thing is bizarre. She quilts and scrapbooks and I’m decent-ish at mocking interest. The other day she e-mails me at work:

    “Will you be raiding tonight?”

I nearly fell off my chair trying to imagine her actually SAYING that out loud. I think she’s gotten the message that this has become kind of important to me. Next we roll her a hot female Draenaei that she can dress up…

I don’t think that would ever happen to me. Everyone but my older brother doesn’t play, except for my father who plays EQ (lame lol). I used to play and every so often he will call up and ask me questions about it and expects me to know, the funny thing being that I actually do. Sometimes I laugh at myself because I actually know more than the guy that’s played since it started.

Well, she did call it Warcraft, not WoW…

    …a bit behind the times.

Nevertheless! Three cheers for your win Frost! =)

*sigh* That’ll NEVER happen in my house. My wife’s been overheard calling herself a “WoW-Widow”. It’s true…but still…
