We talked about it a great deal today and agreed that we probably over-nerfed BM. Marks is in a good spot and Survival might be too high once we look at the changes we are making to all other classes.
Our plan is to buff BM before Ulduar, but I can’t give you a timetable more detailed than that, and things could change for any number of reasons. We are unlikely to touch Steady Shot for the reasons I have mentioned before. We are more likely to look at Kindred Spirits and Serpents Swiftness again.
I don’t mind admitting when we make a mistake in the hope that it builds our credibility in the community. This was one. It won’t be the last.
This is good news to those who loved BM and only with great regret moved on to better dps builds after patch 3.0.8. This is a bit scary news to all those new to SV spec, and even scarier to those rare few die-hard SV hunters who played their spec all the while it sucked and are finally rewarded.
I think what we’re going to see is a slight boost to BM pet dps. It also seems to me that where MM is now is about where they would like hunters to be in general. I haven’t actually done a 25-man raid with survival spec while actually using the max rank of explosive shot (shame) but I suspect it is actually a bit too high, and very likely deserving of a slight downward tweak to Explosive Shot. After all, I was topping the raid dps meters (barely) using rank 1 of the shot.
