So, as you can see from the below post, Blizz is looking at nerfing the heck out of the raiding hunters. I have to say that while I suspected this for a while and desperately hoped we’d avoid the nerf bat,  I have to admit that hunters deserve the nerf.

Hunter raid dps is just high, and it was that way throughout BC. I didn’t really think it was a problem — just that someone has to be on top and it was our turn, like the rogues were the pve (and pvp) gods in old world. I kinda expected it to get changed in Wrath, but instead we just got better. I also expected Blizz to fix BM hunters so that MM was back on top for raid builds, but BM just got better again.

So I hoped that we would just continue to be dps gods, but alas we flew too close to the sun and now we’re getting burned.

From the looks of things they are really working hard to not hurt pvp damage too much — though all those pet nerfs will certainly do so.

The really, really painful things I see are Serpent Swiftness dropped in half for pets and Kindred Spirits topping out at 15%. I’m glad that they had the foresight to bump growl aggro by 20% to try to somewhat compensate for the lower pet dps. And maybe it will, since the hunter dps will be down too.

The Volley nerf was well deserved, and Steady Shot is just the logical place to start the nerfs. Removing Beastial Wrath from Readiness pretty much negates any interest in the Big Red Pet/Readiness build for me — and I suspect for most BM hunters. That’s also a really big pvp nerf to survivability, since I think that was possibly one of the strongest pvp builds.

Overall I am sad to see these nerfs coming up, as much as I have to admit Blizz is right to make them. Gotta raid and heroic as much as possible to make full use of my godlike powers before they are taken from me.
