First, I just want to say I have proof Frost said I was right. Glorious backpedaling followed, but for a short while I was right. All my dues paying paid off.
Moving on. No need to gloat.
Next I’d like to talk about the scourge invasion and why its great to be a tank. Tanks, and in my view protection warriors, got a massive boost in patch 3.0, wow. I was up in winterspring, having used the Dimensional Ripper – Everlook to get to Everlook. It was a short ride south to the necropolis, and then I followed the beams to the north edge of Mazthoril or however you spell it. Track Undead showed a plethorah of fast spawning nasty undead. I killed eight or ten or so and have 3 Necrotic Runes to my name. Then a friendly shammy from the guild shows up and we start pulling more and more of them. They’re dying in droves and the ground is littered with them. Looting is actually a pain. Soon I’m up to fifteen necrotic runes.
Then a horde pally summons two of the Shadows of Doom. My Shammy friend summons a third and agros it. I send in the wolf (Megadeath) who agros, but the Shammy quickly pulls agro and dies. It goes back to the wolf who dies, uses Heart of the Phoenix, uses Lick Your Wounds, and gets a couple heals from the Shammy who used Ancestral Spirit, and then dies. The Shammy then dies again. Then I die cuz the Horde Pally died, and the two chained over to this one for some godforsaken reason.
So we run back and die again cuz now all the adds are spawning right on us. Then all four Shadows of Doom chain over to us, but I Feign Death out of it and the Shammy hadn’t engaged. Then the Horde Pally and a few of his friends tank all four of the Shadows of Doom and kill them. I ride over to the next invasion point in Winterspring just in time to find some other Horde clearing it out.
The Shammy logs cuz its late, and a friendly warrior from the guild shows up. The friendly kind of insane warrior who runs into groups of the pulls of six in Black Temple and takes like ten seconds to die, but if he gets any healing he lives. That’s long enough the pull usually goes well. The same Warrior that runs off and gathers up three or four of the baddies in the Illidari Training grounds in Black Temple and fights them himself ahead of the raid for a sickeningly long time. Yeah, hes a great tank.
So he hoofed it all the way to Winterspring when he heard the Shammy and I were in deep. But by the time he got there the scourge were all dead and the Shammy was gone. But he stuck it out and followed me to the third invasion point. The Necrotic Shard was strong and there were only three horde clothies there clearing it out. So he promptly runs off on his Razzashi Raptor and engages one. We quickly smoke it. So he gets three. We smoke those. This concluded his testing, and now confident they couldn’t hurt him he runs off and gathered them all up. Really, all of them. He runs a little, does a aoe blast think I don’t understand, thunderclap, charge some others further away, and then end up with them all facing him. I Volley them down, and in two volleys they were all dead. He’d paid his dues apparently, cuz this was ezmode.
So we looted them all up and repeated this a time or two more. Then the necrotic engineers spawned (or they were spawned when we got there) and he ran up and popped two. I was like “Oh crap” but I wasn’t gonna FD and abandon him. They feared me, and Megadeath, and they feared him. We agro’d about a dozen of the other scourge. But he charged around and thunderclaped until they were all on him. If one spawned hext to me, he’d charge over, grab it and then we’d seperate. Then I volley’d down the adds til it was just the two shadows. His health was like at 95%. This felt like it took ten minutes, but was more like 30 seconds. Then I hunter marked one and unloaded on it. Those things have like 110k HP, and it was dead before I even thought about refreshing my mark.
His health was at like 20%. With just one left, it was gonna be close, so we repeated it and killed that one too. I don’t know how much health he had but it wasn’t much. I was truly impressed, we’d killed two shadows without a healer and neither of us died.
About this time a healer was down in Tanaris looking to kill some undead and saying all the spots were up. So we flew down there and proceeded to wipe out two or three more invasion points. It was more work looting them I think than killing them with him tanking everything and the priest using Holy Nova. When the four Shadows came out, he tanked all of them. He was a rock, he made everything possible. That’s whats great about tanks. I ended the night with all my undead killing stuff (yay, I have a skirt!!).
It was a thing of beauty.
Oh, and linking Spells rules. Guild chat is so much better now. Its like a fun game. Almost a mini game. Like putting murloc in the titles of movies (e.g. Bridge over the River Murloc, or Ace Ventura: Murloc Detective). Or the mini game of telling Chuck Norris jokes in /Trade. But this one is actually fun. This is a brief recap:
[Guild][Arust]: I’d pay a [Pound of Flesh] for that.
[Guild][Grumpy Warrior]: Puts a [Gag Order] on Arust.
[Guild][Mean Rogue]: [Slice and Dice]es Arust.
Then, this other hunter (he’s an elf, cuz he’s witty) comes from the top rope…
[Guild][Hunter from the top rope]: This Flareup of [Rapid Fire] attempts at linking spells is no [Deterrence] to one with an Eagle Eye for good conversation or an Explosive Trap, failing that.
Clearly the last hunter won. I only wished I’d screen grabbed it.

It’s OK. You can say “Shan” instead of “Shammy.” We’d all guess it anyway. One reason to spec back to resto… she has gear for resto!
I agree this is pretty awesome. I did these same tests over a week ago in Blasted Lands. I pulled a couple at a time, noticing I wasn’t really getting hurt. So I got more and more aggressive with it until I was grabbing pretty much most of them at once (15-20) and whittling them down, ending with about 40% life after each go. It was glorious. There was one point where I let a level 57 hunter join for some xp fun and he was amused, asking if I ever died.
Hey now, I’ve never said that I don’t ever agree with you. Just that you’re always wrong. I’m wrong on occasion too.
That is clearly not what you said. Making you wrong again.
