800k

It’s good to be a hunter.

I started doing battlegrounds (and arenas) just to get the welfare epics. I’m sure I’m not alone here. It’s okay, you can admit it.

But after steadily grinding bgs for a while both my gear and my pvp skills got better, until I started winning more than losing. Not surprisingly once I started winning the majority of battlegrounds and nearly always made the top spot for damage done, I started enjoying them a heck of a lot more.

Well, patch 3.0 messed that up all to hell. I know a lot of people are complaining about the ret pallys and their sick unstoppable holy damage,  but I don’t really care about that. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad they’re getting nerfed, but I still have more trouble with a holy pally than a ret pally.

No, the biggest problem I’ve found is that everyone does more damage. Some of them lots more, some of them just significantly more. We all now have the talents tuned for lvl 80, but we still got level 70 health. The result is we die a lot faster. And in my case, more often.

I have something in the neighborhood of 12k health and 390 resilience in pvp gear, and that used to keep me standing under a lot of abuse. But no longer.

However….

The other day I was in Warsong Gulch. WSG is my most hated battleground — not hunter friendly at all — but I needed the marks and I’m obsessed with keeping my mark collection balanced.

The Alliance went defense crazy, with 6-7 people on D at all times. Those few of us on O had a rough time of it. 20 minutes passed and neither side had capped the flag. Then 30. Random achievements flashed on my screen, 300k damage, killing different kinds of folks, etc.

Finally the capping started. The end of the game saw us at 2-2 with both flags held in our own flag rooms. I was on offense of course, with three others, and mowing down the opposition. I mean I was badass — for once no one was attacking me and I had big red pet, rapid fire, the works. Finally the healers were dealt with, and I turned my crazy death dealing self on the flag carrier (a druid, natch). Without his healers his health plummeted, and just as I finally dropped the druid, the game ended — the horde had capped the flag.

The game lasted 58 minutes, and we lost.

In the end I did 830,000 damage (never crossed 500k before). Not only was I number one on the damage charts, but number two was 300k below me at 510,000 damage.

Oh yeah, patch or no patch, it’s still good to be a hunter!

It might just be my battlegroup(ruin) but i never do well in PVP. I always seem to have a bullseye on my back and i can never get more than a few kills and 40 or 50k damage. I can truly say that I hate holy pallies, and i REALLY hate deathknights. I tend to go down in only a few hits, and never get a chance to get more than a couple of shots off. PVP gear or not, whats with the 8-11k crits coming off deathnknights and pallies? I used to be able to do pretty well for a hunter in the bg’s, but now……

Yeah totally agree… this year it’s like… get 3 or 4 shots off from the rotation… death knight pulls me… rabid mashing of keys and macros with zero responce… death

    reset and rerun above sequence
